Quick Quotes
Q. All right, joining us after the final round of the Dow Championship are Angel gin and Juli Inkster. Really great work this week. Played some really competitive golf. Can you just reflect on the partnership and the week as a whole?
JULI INKSTER: Yeah, we had an amazing time out there. Angel played amazing today. But it was fun. I think we played loose. You know, I helped out when I could but Angel was a driving force; but I was just glad to be by her side and her partner.
ANGEL YIN: She gave me a lot of confidence and that's why I was able to do what I needed to do. Because it is a partner event. Doesn't matter who closes it out. For me to be able to play well she needs to be right there for me being able to make pars and all those important saves.
So we did both really, really well this week. Juli missed one fairway, but we did show that hole who's boss because she par'd 16, I birdied.
JULI INKSTER: Yeah.
ANGEL YIN: So that was very nice.
JULI INKSTER: That hole was our nemesis. It was a bad hole.
ANGEL YIN: 238 to the hole yesterday.
JULI INKSTER: So, yeah, I mean, we played really good in alternate shot. The course set up perfectly for me odds and her evens.
ANGEL YIN: Yeah. I think we would've finished like top 5.
JULI INKSTER: Yeah, if it was alternate shot.
ANGEL YIN: Be in contention if it's alternate shot.
JULI INKSTER: Yeah. So it was good. I'm really glad I came and played. Midland has been amazing. The people here are amazing. We went over to Angel's house last night, housing, and had dinner. Super great people.
So it's been a very fun week.
Q. Juli, like I mentioned before, you set the record for oldest player to make the cut. Now that you ended your week, what does that mean to you to continue to set records?
JULI INKSTER: Well, you know, I had a little help in my friend to make the cut. You know, I just -- I really enjoy the game of golf. I'm looking forward to not playing golf for a while, but to come out here and play with Angel, I knew if I wasn't playing great she could still carry me and I knew she wouldn't get mad at me. She better not get mad at me.
No, she was a great partner.
ANGEL YIN: I just hope you don't get mad at me.
JULI INKSTER: No. I never get mad at you. She was a great partner. I think our name says it all for us, Frick & Frack. That was on pointe.
ANGEL YIN: Yeah.
JULI INKSTER: We still don't know who Frick or Frack.
ANGEL YIN: Nope. We'll figure it our. You know, our host family has twins, they were called Frick & Frack growing up.
JULI INKSTER: Oh, my God. Classic. So, yeah, it was a great week and really glad I played and really glad Angel asked me to play.
Q. Any plans to tee it up soon in an LPGA event?
ANGEL YIN: Me or her? Because I have to play.
JULI INKSTER: No. No, I do not. I do not. Not at all.
Q. Angel, is there anything you're taking away from this week, any sense of confidence or peace that this week helped you with?
ANGEL YIN: Yeah, a lot of confidence. I mean --
JULI INKSTER: She should have some confidence. If she doesn't, she has some work to do.
ANGEL YIN: Yeah, I think the whole -- it's really nice to have this event be kind of in the middle of our season right when it gets really tough.
Being out here with Juli is really nice. Learn a lot from her on the golf course. Even though she wasn't close to the hole at all, her putting speed was great, she used all her advantages; chipping was great. There is a lot of good in everything she did.
You know, heading into the major season where we're in the heart of everything, it's really good to have that because you just need to grind it out. That's where majors come in. It's not going to be easy and she showed me even if it's not easy, she can make it work.
I mean, alternate shot, the reason why we did so good is because of Juli. One person can't be good enough to shoot 1-under and even. So we just really grinded.
JULI INKSTER: We grinded, yeah.
ANGEL YIN: This is really good momentum going into the next four majors, three.
JULI INKSTER: You always got to keep your head up?
ANGEL YIN: Yeah, head up.
JULI INKSTER: Keep going.
