Quick Quotes
Q. Joining us after the final round of the Dow Championship are Madelene and Dani. Really competitive week this week. Can you just talk about playing together and your success out there this week?
MADELENE SAGSTROM: You go first.
DANI HOLMQVIST: Yeah, it's been really fun. I mean, it's Madelene's tournament before maternity break obviously, and we played together as a team, like playing back to like winning the]European Championships together, World Championships.
So it's really fun to play to play this week with one of your best friends. It makes it so special.
Q. Madelene, you have decided that you're going to be starting your maternity, or at least not playing any more events in the coming weeks. How did you make that decision, and how did you feel out there this week?
MADELENE SAGSTROM: When the low left starting coming on the front nine today I was like, yeah, you know, it's time. But I'm playing decent golf still, but just the stamina is not there. I was really happy to play with Dani this week. There is just something, a different feeling when you know somebody has your back constantly.
We grinded really hard in the foursomes, and then we got -- Dani finished really strong now on the back. So it's been such a fun week. This is such a great tournament. I mean, the fans here are great. The golf course is a really fun set up for this kind of format.
So it's really kind of a nice way to end like a very enjoyable week. Every morning I look forward to go out to the golf course and play.
But it's going to be a nice break now. The body is a little tired.
Q. What's been the hardest part about playing pregnant and the best part about it?
MADELENE SAGSTROM: The hardest part is the stamina. Making sure that I can -- I mean, walking for four, five, six hours a day, that's been probably the hardest.
The most fun has actually been all the adjustments I've had to make. I changed all my clubs. Even this morning I did make a little bit of an adjustment on the putting. I was like, do I go a little bit more on top of the belly now or go around it?
It's been fun. You have to like stay away -- get away from that perfect golf and just be a little bit more flexible.
Q. And then what are your plans on returning to Tour? Obviously a lot can change.
MADELENE SAGSTROM: Yeah, for sure. No, baby boy arrives in September hopefully, and -- well, he should. Hopefully not earlier. And my goal is probably come back maybe after Asia. No travels overseas for me with a little one.
Hopefully when we return to America in March. Haven't seen a schedule yet, but maybe March, April time.
Q. For both of you, people often describe the LPGA as a family. At the end of the offseason everyone is like, it's like going back to school. Can you just talk about how this event leans itself into that, the support system you have out here and playing with those people you're close to?
DANI HOLMQVIST: It is cool. I think this is probably the -- I would say most fun week out of the year. It's just different playing in a team, and just to see everyone else teaming and the happy spirits up there and support. Not about only you as an athlete, but about the team. I think the whole Tour embraces that, caddies, spectators, everyone.
And this community is just amazing. People come out and watch every single day, rain or shine. It's just a special place to come back to every year.
MADELENE SAGSTROM: Yeah, I know they had the Dow Day on Friday. People get off work, bring out the families. Tickets prices this week is amazing, so just getting all these kids out to watch is just a great time.
I mean, parents are probably enjoying it because they probably love golf a bit more than maybe the kids, but it's just a great way to inspire kids. I think all the girls are maybe a little bit more happy than normal. Like Dani said, you're playing for something bigger than yourself. You want somebody else's ball to go int the hole as much as your own, so it's just a great week.
