RBC CANADIAN OPEN

June 13, 2026

Sudarshan Yellamaraju

Caledon, Ontario, Canada

TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley (North Course)

Quick Quotes

Q. Obviously you had the best round of the tournament, of your tournament so far. What was working for you out there today?

SUDARSHAN YELLAMARAJU: Everything was pretty good. I definitely made some more putts today than I did yesterday. Yesterday I hit it really good. Today it was maybe not as good as yesterday, but the putts were pretty good and that's why the score was good. Yeah, just the course, the conditions with it being kind of windy, it's going firmer, I just needed to kind of keep hitting fairways and greens as much as I could.

Q. I'm not sure if you heard it but a lot of fans were shouting cheering you on. Heard a lot of, "Sauga City," "we're behind you." I heard a lot of, "One of us." Did you hear that and what's it mean to you if you did hear it?

SUDARSHAN YELLAMARAJU: Yeah, no, I heard it. I was just trying to focus as much as I could, like I always do. But I was definitely hearing it out there and it felt good, for sure.

Q. Do you ever think about the fact that you might be inspiring young golfers from Mississauga, Brampton, and Caledon to take up the sport or take it more seriously?

SUDARSHAN YELLAMARAJU: Honestly, I'm so focused on what I'm doing. Like, you know, I've been just trying to kind of do my best that I can and I think this year I've kind of learned that it is a little bit of, when I'm doing well, I am inspiring others, so it is kind of cool to see. But like I said, I'm just trying to play the best I can, if I'm able to inspire others, then that's awesome.

Q. Did you hear a lot of different nicknames out there and what's your favorite among them?

SUDARSHAN YELLAMARAJU: I don't know what's my favorite. I definitely heard a lot, for sure. There's quite a lot. I guess the people can just kind of find what they want to find and make it a nickname.

Q. Can you take us through your second shot into 18, what did you hit, what was that lie like?

SUDARSHAN YELLAMARAJU: So we had, it was in the obviously just trickled into the rough, it was pretty firm. I had a pretty decent lie, it was going like the grain was going away from me, so it was pretty good, just sitting nicely, wispy lie. We knew obviously you can't be short or it's going to trickle into the water. But we were pretty, I think we had about somewhere like 210, the main thing was the front number was about 196 or give or take, I don't really remember right now from the top of my head. But, yeah, hit an 8-iron, it was down wind pumping off the right. I think our aim was just to kind of obviously get it in that right corner where it was, but if it went a little bit long it's okay, kind of going back into the wind. So came out pretty much exactly how I wanted to and it thankfully kind of landed pretty soft and stayed on the green. I had a decent chance at it.

Q. How did it feel to hit that shot coming off two bogeys?

SUDARSHAN YELLAMARAJU: Yeah, it felt good. I definitely, yeah, I mean I, 16 I kind of, I would say that approach that was the one that I feel like I should have obviously done better. 17 is a tough hole, it's going to play tough today, especially with that wind. If you don't hit that fairway it's going to be really tough to make par. So 17 was 17. 16 was definitely on me. But, yeah, 18 for sure making the birdie was huge for sure to just kind of post a decent score.

Q. There's still a lot of golfers on the course right now, but did you, you know, looking back and now to see where you are right now, did you ever kind of mentally picture this?

SUDARSHAN YELLAMARAJU: That I would be in the lead? Like around the lead?

Q. Yeah, around the lead, yeah.

SUDARSHAN YELLAMARAJU: Yeah, I've always thought I could be in contention in tournaments, for sure. That's what I've been working for, that's why I've been dreaming of doing, but it's just a matter of doing it, of course. Like I said, it didn't feel really unusual I've been in this position before, maybe not on the PGA TOUR, but in this position before, so it wasn't unusual. So wherever I am at the end of the day today and going into tomorrow I'm just going to do the best I can and that's all I can ask for.

Q. The symmetry of performing well here when many years ago it was the Osprey Valley Open that you Monday qualified for and kind of, as you've said in the past, kind of turned your career around. Just like is it kind of neat to be doing this at this same facility that you kind of had your break through back several years ago?

SUDARSHAN YELLAMARAJU: You know, it would be pretty cool if I can, you know, do something tomorrow where this is kind of pretty much where it all started. But I'm just focusing on trying to play the best I can and if ends up being the result I want, then that's good.
