RBC CANADIAN OPEN

June 13, 2026

Bud Cauley

Caledon, Ontario, Canada

TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley (North Course)

Quick Quotes

Q. Good round out there today. Can you take us through what was working for you and how you felt about your day?

BUD CAULEY: Yeah, I felt good with everything. I was driving the ball pretty well. I missed a couple to the right, a lot of tee shots out there where the wind is off the left, but for the most part drove it really well. I felt good with my iron play. I holed some putts, which was great.

Q. As you have made your com back to the TOUR and become healthy again, and you're still getting, trying to get into that winner's circle, I'm sure you feel a lot of love from some of your peers on the TOUR. Justin Thomas in particular is always on social media whenever he sees your name on top of the leaderboard. What does that mean to you as you try to get that first win?

BUD CAULEY: Yeah, it's great. I obviously played golf my whole life and been able to meet a lot of great people and develop a lot of great friendships, him definitely being one of 'em. So, you know, it's great to be doing this with really good friend's and guys that support you and pull for you, that just makes it even more fun.

Q. One of your first PGA TOUR starts as a pro was at the Canadian Open way back in 2011 at Shaughnessy. You did very well. What do you remember about that week?

BUD CAULEY: I just remember the golf course being very hard. I remember Tommy Gainey playing well the first round and saying we should have a U.S. Open here (laughing), kind of forgetting that we were not in the United States. But other than that, yeah, like you said, I forget what event it was, it was my second or third event playing as a professional. I was very new and just trying to get my feet wet and it was a great week for me to be able to play well and have a good finish.

Q. What will it take for you to hold on to this lead into tomorrow and win this whole thing?

BUD CAULEY: Yeah, I think just more of the same. I've been hitting the ball well, been making some putts, getting up-and-down when I need to. The golf course is probably going to play a lot different tomorrow with the wind switching and the rain coming in. We'll see what that, you know, the different challenges that presents, and some holes may play easier with it being out of the north. We'll see, it's going to be a different test, but I'm looking forward to it.

Q. There will be groups of three tomorrow starting from the 1st and 10th hole. How does that change your approach or does it change your approach?

BUD CAULEY: No, not at all, twos or threes. Obviously when you play in threes it take a little bit longer, but when you're out there playing and competing you don't really notice it too much, so no difference.

Q. Given your journey over the years and all that you've been through, when that win does come, how do you think you'll handle that emotionally?

BUD CAULEY: I don't know. I don't really want to think about that now. I guess we'll find out when that day happens. I will say, just since I was injured and playing golf now and having gotten married and starting a family, my life -- I think my perspective has changed and my priorities I think are in order. So it's not the most important thing in the world to me, but it is very important. I work really hard at it, so that's why I come out here and play is to try to win tournaments.
