RBC CANADIAN OPEN

June 12, 2026

Ryan Fox

Caledon, Ontario, Canada

TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley (North Course)

Quick Quotes

Q. Can you just sum up that round? Looked like the putter was pretty hot for you.

RYAN FOX: Yeah, it was. I played really nice early. I had one bad shot on 11, but I'm probably not the only one that's going to do that today. Nice to see a few putts go in. Then when we turned back into the wind it was a little bit of a struggle again for a few holes, and then kind of putter and short game kept me in it a little bit there. Look, it's tricky. There are some birdie holes out there, obviously with the wind direction you kind of get some holes downwind, but it was kind of getting to the point that downwind it was almost as hard to pick a number and pick a club than it was into the wind. So, yeah, if you would have given me 66 at the start of the day I would have taken it.

Q. When you have wind like this how easy is it to lose your mental focus, like you could hit a good shot and not get a good result.

RYAN FOX: Yeah, it is. I think my goal for the week was to be patient anyway, and you definitely got to be that. You've just got to accept that you can hit a good shot that doesn't end up where you think it's going to and that that's okay, move on to the next one. Thankfully, the greens are soft enough and they're not that quick, so you feel like at least if you got it up near the green you gave yourself an opportunity to get up-and-down. So, yeah, if they were firm and fast with this wind it would be a real different test of golf. But thankfully that rain kind of softened it up for us.

Q. At Wednesday's news conference you said that you're familiar with this course, obviously you've had success here, but if the wind picked up it would be very different. The wind picked up today. How different was it today versus yesterday versus last year?

RYAN FOX: Yeah, I mean, definitely today compared to yesterday was a big change. We had a little bit yesterday, but obviously there was some pretty good scores to be had. The wind direction was kind of nice in that it helped on the holes you want it to help on, the longer ones, and 18. For the most part you could get away with the into-the-wind holes, it wasn't too bad. But today it was a tough wind direction, the wind off the left on all the holes going out, 10, 11, 12, 13 was a tough stretch to start. 1, 2, 3, even though 1's a par-5 it didn't feel like a gimmie birdie today. It was pretty easy to get it going the other way if you got it wrong. Compared to last year, my biggest memory was of the last round last year, we had a very different wind on Sunday. But that kind of changed the complexion of the whole golf course. The outward holes played relatively easy and then coming in it was pretty tough. So it's a golf course that you kind of want the wind to blow a little bit, it makes it kind of interesting.
