CATRIONA MATTHEW: The first match with Davina and Lily, you know, Asterisk and Kiara were 9-under par, obviously four-ball, but they got off to a great start, the Americans. I thought Lily and Davina really hung in well and fought right to the end.

Then the last match could have gone either way. Nellie had a couple of putts that just kind of hung on the edge, but still a lot to play for.

Q. I got the sense that you're probably sick of talking about World Rankings, but again when you come to match play, there's none of that talk.

CATRIONA MATTHEW: No, very little in it. You just saw that in the second game. They were, what, 5-up, and suddenly they're back to 1-up at one point. So anything can happen in any of the games.

We're on the board now, which I think is the main thing, and hopefully try and build on that.

Q. You look at the first game, they got so far ahead. From the team point of view, even though you lost the first game, you avoided wasn't a heavy defeat. So it kind of truly felt as well that a bit of belief comes as well.

CATRIONA MATTHEW: Absolutely. You got to fight till the very end. You never know what's going to happen. You can't give up right there, and they didn't. They hung in there and fought.

Q. What's it been like? Weather's perfect. Crowds are out there. How much are you enjoying yourself?

CATRIONA MATTHEW: It's great fun, isn't it? As you say, it's perfect weather, crowds are out, and we're having fun. This is what they came here to do.
