Quick Quotes
Q. Opening 65, did you feel -- there was a lot of talk about this being a bomber's golf course, you need to be aggressive with the driver. Did that give you some confidence today?
TONY FINAU: Yeah, no doubt. I think it's a golf course where you can pull driver out most of the time. There are some areas where I feel like you got to play a little more conservative, but if you're swinging the driver well, which I was today, I think it's going to be, the golf course is going to be right in front of you.
Q. Two birdies, two bogeys through your first four holes, did you feel like you needed to give yourself a pep talk or were you pretty confident because you made those birdies?
TONY FINAU: Yeah, it's always nice to make birdies. I think sometimes when you make bogeys like I did, you know those are just rare. I was making bogeys from the middle of the fairway and with wedges in my hands, and I just knew it was just weird stuff kind of happening. I was still trying to get used to the greens, how soft they were. I spun a couple off the green. So it was more spin control than anything. But I knew if I just kept hitting fairways I was going to keep giving myself looks, and so I think my patience just kind of paid off.
Q. You're coming off of one of your best finishes of the year at the Nelson, how close are you to putting it you all together?
TONY FINAU: I feel really close. I was just talking to my son last night about it. And he always asks me how I'm feeling before a tournament, and I told him, I said, I'm driving it as good as I have all year, my iron play is starting to come around, and the putter's felt good over the last five, six weeks. I feel like it's all starting to come around, you just never know when it's going to click. But this was a good start to hopefully a good week.
