Quick Quotes
Q. All right, joining us after the first round of the Dow Championship is Gemma Dryburgh and Nicole Broch Estrup. A lot of circles on the scorecard today. Talk about how this partnership worked and what worked on the golf course?
GEMMA DRYBURGH: You want to go?
NICOLE BROCH ESTRUP: Very easy. Just put it in the fairway and Gemma was stiffing it all day. I mean, yeah, it worked out really well. We had, yeah, those two bogeys on two and three, but other than that we played super solid. We didn't even make any long, long putts.
GEMMA DRYBURGH: Yeah. It was pretty stress-free, which was nice.
NICOLE BROCH ESTRUP: Yes. We love stress-free.
GEMMA DRYBURGH: Yeah.
Q. Coming into this week, did you guys have a specific game plan or someone plays odds and evens or anything like that?
GEMMA DRYBURGH: Yeah, I think sounds like Nicole played that way last time and so did I, so I tee'd off the odds and Nicole was the evens. It works out quite well with this course because Nicole is a little longer than me, so works out quite well strategic-wise. So, yeah, worked really well for us.
Q. You guys are both moms, recently became moms. Can you talk a little bit about that process and then just getting to be out here playing with someone who understands what you go through?
GEMMA DRYBURGH: Yeah, I think most of what we talked about was or sons today.
NICOLE BROCH ESTRUP: Just Max Leo really.
GEMMA DRYBURGH: Yeah, pretty cool. Obviously Max is a little older than Leo, but we're kind of going through the same things, which is pretty cool.
NICOLE BROCH ESTRUP: And in general it gives another perspective on live. Especially this week is all about having fun, and playing with another mom is just -- you know, we had a lot of fun today and, again, it was stress-free. Yeah.
GEMMA DRYBURGH: Yeah.
Q. Nicole, I know you made your first start at ShopRite but Gemma you've been playing all season. How does a fun event like this in the middle of the season kind of break up some of the more stressful self-focused rounds?
GEMMA DRYBURGH: Yeah, it's a lot of fun. We get to obviously let our hair down, especially tomorrow with the four-ball. Be a lot of fun. Just kind of, yeah, like you said, breaks up the year and something a bit different that we don't get to do very often.
I think we both said we used to do it in our kind of junior and kind of amateur days, especially back in Europe, so it's nice to get back to that.
Q. Last one: Obviously different format tomorrow. What's the mindset, game plan heading into that?
NICOLE BROCH ESTRUP: Go at every pin. (Laughter.) No, obviously I mean, you know, we played super solid today, so if we can keep that up, then tomorrow you can be a little bit more aggressive with some of the pin positions.
Today you just want to make sure you don't put too many bogeys on the card. We managed really well. But tomorrow is a different game tomorrow really.
GEMMA DRYBURGH: Yeah.
NICOLE BROCH ESTRUP: Just we got to, yeah.
GEMMA DRYBURGH: Probably be hitting it first and getting it nice and solid and then I'll let Nicole -- let her go.
