NBA FINALS: KNICKS VS. SPURS

June 10, 2026

De'Aaron Fox

San Antonio Spurs

Game 4: Postgame

Knicks 107, Spurs 106

Q. What's been going through your mind?

DE’AARON FOX: Obviously let that get away, being up [29]. Got away from doing the things that got us up and put ourselves in that position.

Q. What changed for y'all in the second half?

FOX: I think we played a little slower. But then I think whenever we did play fast, we took quick shots. The ball wasn't moving the same way that it did in the second half like it did in the first half. I think we got great shots in the first half, and that made the tough shots that we made a little easier. We didn't get a flow on the offensive end in the second half.

Q. That last run-out, what's your thought process?

FOX: Haven't scored. Try to get a layup, get up three. Force them to need a three. OG made a good block.

Q. Is there anything differently on OG's tip-in that you guys might have done?

FOX: No. We have to turn and try to get a hit. He flew in and made a great play.

Q. During a lot of times in that situation where you took the layup, guys would try to run it out and get fouled. What made you think that you wanted to go for the layup instead of trying to get the foul?

FOX: I just thought I'd be able to outrun them. That's it.

Q. How do you guys bounce back from this?

FOX: We have to try to put this behind us and get back to the things that we've done well in these games. We have to figure out a way to hold the lead. We've been able to build up double-digit leads in all four of these games, and we have to figure out a way to sustain that.

Q. The adversity you guys faced throughout the postseason, do you feel like maybe this is a little bit steeper hill but that you've kind of been in some of these spots?

FOX: Yeah, it's obviously different. We've been in a closeout game before that we won and forced a Game 7. Obviously, this takes another game, but you want to think about it one game at a time.

Q. As a veteran and leader on this team, what wisdom do you think you can pass on to the younger players?

FOX: Just take this one game at a time. It obviously looks like a steep hill, but this is something that's happened before. Take this thing one game at a time. We've been in a position to win all these games. We've been up double digits. We have to figure out what we need to do to be able to put some of these games away.

Q. Is it more frustrating or more optimistic going forward to Game 5 that you guys have had double-digit leads in the first quarter in all these games?

FOX: I think you can look at it both ways, knowing that we're good enough to get these leads, but we have to figure out a way as a team, as a unit, to be able to sustain these leads. Obviously giving them life, especially at home, is never going to be a good thing.

Q. Considering the stakes, is this the most painful loss you've ever had?

FOX: For sure. You could be going home 2-2. Going down 3-1 is obviously very different. But we feel like we have a team to be able to come back from this. We have to take this thing one game at a time, capitalize, be better and not let those mistakes continue to build.
