San Antonio Spurs
Game 4: Postgame
Knicks 107, Spurs 106
Q. What happened in the second half that allowed them to come back?
STEPHON CASTLE: I just think we got away from what got us the lead – moving the ball, playing fast. I really have to go back and watch it again, but that pretty much sums it up.
Q. On OG's tip-in, at what point did you clock that he was swooping into the lane to crash the board?
STEPHON CASTLE: Yeah, I don't think any of us did. I had Towns. I tried to make sure he didn't get the offensive rebound. I didn't really see him.
Q. Keldon says there's still a lot of belief going back to San Antonio on Saturday. I know it's still kind of fresh right now, but just knowing that you guys have one more in San Antonio, what's the mindset going back there?
STEPHON CASTLE: Yeah, it's a tough loss, obviously. It's going to take us a minute to get over it. But obviously we still have belief in each other and confidence that we're going to win the next game. It's still first to four. I think Coach Mitch said it best: We've pretty much dictated the winner and loser of all these games. I think just us finishing games and trying to maintain our leads has been tough for us.
Q. What’s the more frustrating part? Obviously the lead tonight. You've said that you've let this team off the hook a couple of times, two losses by one point.
STEPHON CASTLE: I think the leads. They're a good team. We expected to be in close games with them, especially at the end of games, throughout the series. But when we take leads like that, there's really no excuse.
Q. How much of it was self-inflicted? I know you said you've got to watch the tape, but did you feel like it was more about mistakes you made versus them mounting the comeback?
STEPHON CASTLE: I don't think it was too many bad mistakes we made. I think our shot selection changed a lot in the second half compared to the first. Execution-wise, getting to our spots sometimes, not getting pushed off catches. I think we were really sharp in the first half, and that's what made it fun for us. I don't think we executed the same way in the second.
Q. When you felt the lead was slipping, what did you do to try to change the tone of the game and reverse that?
STEPHON CASTLE: When I was on the court, just trying to make sure our defense was in the right spots, trying to limit them to one shot. For us, it's trying to stay out of foul trouble so we can stay on the court. Offensively, it's trying to make the right passes, staying disciplined. Even though we're a very talented team with a lot of good shot-makers, I think just trying to find the right shot on a possession will help us.
