HSBC CHAMPIONSHIPS

June 9, 2026

Emma Raducanu

London, England, UK

Queens Club

Press Conference

E. RADUCANU/A. Blinkova

6-0, 6-3

THE MODERATOR: Emma, congratulations. A great result today, your first match on grass. Just talk us through how it felt.

EMMA RADUCANU: Yeah, it felt really good to be back out playing on a home court in front of the fans, in front of all of the support. I really enjoyed it, and I'm really proud of my performance today.

THE MODERATOR: Questions.

Q. When you're beating someone 6-0 and near-perfect tennis, what does it feel like in that moment? How do you feel when you're just playing like that and just smashing someone?

EMMA RADUCANU: Yeah, I feel like I started extremely well, and I think despite not having played a lot of matches, I was really pleased with how I came out and was playing very free. I think I was just feeding off of the atmosphere, and it felt free, it felt clear, and a lot of clarity.

Not necessarily thinking too much, not trying to do too much. It felt very natural.

Q. Assuming you have had a bit of time to work with Andrew the last couple of weeks. Was there specific stuff you were able to implement, now you've had time to prepare on grass, that came through today?

EMMA RADUCANU: Yeah, we have been working day in, day out, since I started training again, and even throughout the clay season we have been working and putting good shifts in each day. You don't know when it's going to pay off. I think it's work that's compounded over the last few weeks.

Of course there is a lot more work to do, but I think I'm really just trying to enjoy the process, despite the results, keep showing up each day with the best attitude and the best commitment I can.

Q. I wasn't actually at your last match, but it looked like the conditions were quite unfamiliar to you with the heat and the clay. Is this really much more natural in the sense of the conditions?

EMMA RADUCANU: Yeah, I love playing on grass. I think I have had a lot of good years on the grass. And playing at home, I think it also brings a really good side out of me. I think I'm really enjoying being able to be a part of this atmosphere. I think it suits me.

I think it was a little bit windy today, but I handled it pretty well, and the sun was in and out. Yeah, it feels nice. You just feel like you're at home.

Q. Obviously quite a big occasion later on when Serena returns. How excited are you about that? Will you be watching, and would you be excited, I guess you could potentially face her later on in the doubles draw?

EMMA RADUCANU: Yeah, it's going to be so cool to see her out there. I don't know if I'll be watching, because I have my own doubles with Katie. See how she's making a comeback.

We'll be out there on Court 1. It's going to be so nice to play in front of a home crowd with her, as well. Each year we try and make this tournament a priority together. Looking forward to that.

Q. Would you say that kind of performance was like a blueprint for what you want to achieve over the next couple of weeks leading up to Wimbledon?

EMMA RADUCANU: I think it was a really good steppingstone, and I think the way I was feeling on the court, the way I was moving, the way I was expressing myself, just the whole package, not necessarily the tennis, just how I kind of was acting on the court, I really enjoyed it.

I think that's something that I want to take forward in all of my matches and really embrace this grass court season.
