New York Knicks
Game 3: Postgame
San Antonio Spurs 115, New York Knicks 111
Q: For them to lose the first two games at home, what does it say about them to go on the road and get this one?
MIKAL BRIDGES: They’re a really good team. They’re here for a reason. They did a great job. I got to be better for the next game.
Q: Mikal, for the first time in two months now after a game you’re thinking about the next game after a loss. How does this team respond in that regard?
MIKAL BRIDGES: We’re good. We’re fine. We’re going to be all right. We’re going to regroup tomorrow, learn from our loss and be ready on Wednesday.
Q: Only 18 assists for the team tonight. What were they doing to disrupt you on the offensive end?
MIKAL BRIDGES: I think offensively we got to be a little better just moving. I think we got a little stagnant. I think we just got to keep moving, spacing and be better with that.
Q: What was the difference tonight that they were able to get this win?
MIKAL BRIDGES: I think they just played harder than us. More physical. We’re going to be better next game.
Q: There was so much momentum and energy in this building to start. From the national anthem, it was crazy there. Do you feel like at halftime you got a little deflated and you didn’t get to carry that momentum through halftime?
MIKAL BRIDGES: No, just us first. We just got to come out and execute better. That’s it. We just got to come out and not turn the ball over and give them confidence like that.
Q: In the first two games you were super confident, super aggressive. Why weren’t you able to find the looks that maybe you have earlier?
MIKAL BRIDGES: I think first start with defensively. I think I did a bad job defensively. Obviously I picked up two fouls in the first few minutes. The first thing is I have to be better defensively. I think it really starts with defense and feeding off that.
Q: How do you do a better job with scheme defensively against Wemby?
MIKAL BRIDGES: Like we were doing earlier in the series, just helping each other out. Show bodies.
Q: There was a lot of stoppage of play in this game. Do you think that that kind of disrupted the flow?
MIKAL BRIDGES: I think it’s on us. I think we were fouling a lot. I think they shot a lot of free throws. About 30-something free throws. We got to do a better job on fouling. Make them make tougher shots.
Q: You mentioned the turnovers. Two to start the game and two coming right out of halftime. What do you attribute those to?
MIKAL BRIDGES: Yeah, just us. I think I started it right off the jump. That’s on me, just starting that trend. We got to be better. Just us being a little bit careless.
