NBA FINALS: KNICKS VS. SPURS

June 8, 2026

Landry Shamet

New York Knicks

Game 3: Postgame

San Antonio Spurs 115, New York Knicks 111

Q. Did you think the Spurs played a more desperate game tonight?

LANDRY SHAMET: Yeah, they came out and made adjustments. They were more physical. They hit first. Give them credit, they played a hell of a game. They kicked our ass tonight. We’ve got to bounce back, and we plan to do that. Get better starting tomorrow.

Q. Was it something they did to take you out of your flow? Or do you think it was some self-inflicted wounds that led to this loss?

LANDRY SHAMET: They were really physical early. They played really fast. Got into the paint far too much for our liking. They were really aggressive. Castle had 18 points when I looked up at some point in the first half, so he had it going. Harper was getting into the paint. Fox. Wemby was catching lobs.

A lot of the stuff we’ve tried to pay attention to, we didn’t do a great job of tonight. They took advantage of it. Credit to them for that. That was probably their game plan, be physical and be aggressive and play fast. They did a good job of that.

Q. You’ve been on this incredible shooting streak over these past eight games or so. Did anything feel different tonight?

LANDRY SHAMET: Great process. I got some great looks. I had a few that were down and out. Process over outcome. I’m more upset about some of the things defensively that I’ve been priding myself on. I had a few possessions tonight where I didn’t do my job like I needed to. That’s fixable.

Q. Mike was talking about the free throw discrepancy. Did you see it called unevenly?

LANDRY SHAMET: We made some uncharacteristic stupid plays defensively. We have to keep them off the foul line. The officials are going to do their thing. There are questionable calls every night. That’s not something new. We can’t sit here and make excuses and say there was too much of a – whatever.

We have to look in the mirror and get better, and we’ll do that. Everybody on this team, from head coach to front office to whatever, is going to do that. That’s what we plan to do starting tomorrow.
