Pit Lane Interview
Q. Erik Jones with a runner-up finish, your best finish of the season, first top five. Do you feel like you and the team capitalized on everything you could today?
ERIK JONES: No, not quite. I really think we could have won. I thought we did have the best car. It didn't work out perfect. Everything has to work out really well, and some things didn't go right at the end. And Denny got out front, drove away, and we had to work through some traffic.
It's frustrating, but at the same time, the last month and a half has been good for us. We've had fast cars. We haven't quite got the finishes we deserved. Today was obviously we got the finish we deserved, almost, I think. The Dollar Tree Camry is fast. Couldn't ask much more out of it, but just didn't work out.
Q. Thinking about Pocono next weekend, some of the things that come into play at Michigan come into play there. How does that change your outlook on what the team is capable of?
ERIK JONES: Yeah, I think we got to look hard at what we have for speed at Pocono again, and if we have speed like this, we've got to race for the win. There's a lot of opportunities, jump stages and skip stages to get stage points. But if we can go up and challenge for a win, I think we're going to try to do that.
I don't anticipate it to be worse. I think we've got a good package, and our group is rolling really well as a team, and we're executing as well. We've just got to do every little thing right, and it will come. You run up front like that, it's going to happen for you.
