Q. Just the overall assessment of the day and how everything shook out.

TOMMY FLEETWOOD: Yeah, I played great. Yeah, I played really good. It was a really enjoyable round. I went through a stretch where I felt like I was hitting it great, holed a good putt on 14 for par. The atmosphere was really good. Then eagle 15. 17 could easily have been a different spot, just missing the fairway there. Made bogey, hit a great putt on the last. Overall, I felt like I, yeah, played great and really enjoyed it.

Q. Do you always wear the tournament logo on your shirts?

TOMMY FLEETWOOD: This one's a nice one, isn't it? It's a nice day and the logo.

Q. How did you come to put that on?

TOMMY FLEETWOOD: I just went in the pro shop.

Q. Needed another shirt?

TOMMY FLEETWOOD: Always. Always.

Q. Talk about that putt at 14 real quickly. That kind of kept you in it?

TOMMY FLEETWOOD: Yeah, I was playing really well at the time, and I hit a really good putt on 13 that just missed. Then 14 just hit it in that semi -- the semi rough was so difficult this week. I felt like it jumped a lot out of it, and that one caught a flier. It was over the back. Terrible lie. But, yeah, that was just a big moment. Felt like I was playing well, good reads, nice putt to hole. Just golf can change quickly, right? I missed that putt and maybe a poor tee shot at 15 and things are very different if I hole it, and before you know it I've got 4 feet for eagle on the next one to go into the lead. So I suppose that's margins of golf in the right way, not the wrong way.

Q. Considering the setup this week and other players have said how hard this is compared to maybe even Shinnecock, can you just talk about what you take out of this going into that?

TOMMY FLEETWOOD: Well, yeah, I've actually always -- like, I found -- I find this golf course difficult in terms of how it sits on my eye. So the fact that I could play really well round here means a lot to me. It shows I've been doing great work and it shows that I continue to improve and stuff. Yeah, it's a major test. I think Friday was one of the hardest days you'll ever see on a golf course for anyone.

But, yeah, it was just nice to play well around a really difficult golf course. For myself, I look at Aronimink and felt like I didn't play great. I didn't do much wrong. I would have loved to have made the cut, missed it by one. I would have loved to have had a chance over the weekend to see what I could do. But this one, again, I feel like is a major test, and so a good chance to test your game around one of these courses and feel like I played very well.
