U.S. WOMEN'S OPEN

June 7, 2026

Gaby Lopez

Pacific Palisades, California, USA

The Riviera Country Club

Flash Interview

Q. 3-under, 68. Gaby just wrapped up your final round here at Riviera. What are your thoughts after the championship week?

GABY LOPEZ: Yeah, patience pays off. It was such a fun week. I truly enjoyed myself. I enjoyed my caddie. We hit great shots. I wish I could have made a couple more putts, especially on the back nine on 16 and maybe 17.

But finishing off with that putt on 18 with all of the crowd in front of me, that was very, very special.

Q. You had a very clean scorecard on the front nine today, when do you feel like you had a momentum shift on the back?

GABY LOPEZ: Yeah, of course those two putts on 10, the one on 9 I actually read it perfectly well, just hit it a touch firm. I just reminded myself as soon as I step on the green I'm like, Gaby, it's all pace. It's all pace. It's not about the ball actually going in the hole. It's about the right speed every single time.

That paid off with patience. I hit an amazing shot on 1. I think that was key.

Q. I know the crowds have been great this week. How did it feel today coming down the stretch, there was a great crowd out there, how did it feel to play at Riviera?

GABY LOPEZ: Yeah, I'll say that at the beginning of the day I felt way more nervous than at the end. At the beginning it's all the energy, you're trying to get a run, but the U.S. Open it's about waiting and waiting and waiting, and once you get your chance you kind of ride the wave.

So, yeah, I'm very, very happy with the finish we had and more especially all the work that my team and I have put behind the scenes.

Q. Knowing how close you are, you seem to be doing a really good job of thinking optimistically and positively.

GABY LOPEZ: I feel amazing, honestly. I mean I'm not disappointed at all. I am so happy. I realize that I can win a major championship. I realize that I can put myself in a position that down the stretch on the back nine of a major championship I can still deliver.

There's not one thing that I regret. There is so much that I'm happy, I'm proud, and I'm looking forward to KPMG. Nelly Korda played spectacular golf, she's been week in week out. We just have to be a little tighter in a couple weeks and hopefully one day it's our chance.

Q. Was there a part of the back nine that felt like golf you hadn't seen before or like I guess say a moment of contention in a major that you felt like this is new?

GABY LOPEZ: Yeah, for sure. The beginning of the week I kind of felt like a playoff was possible. And it kind of let me down a little bit on that 3-putt on 16. But that putt on 18 gave me all the hope, gave me all the cheers, gave me all the work that I put into and it paid off.

So honestly, just very happy overall. Very proud and just having so many Mexican people around listening to my name, it just filled me so much. It filled me like I never felt before. I'm so excited that we're playing the Olympic Games here in 2028. I'm just looking forward to a Latin crowd, the L.A. crowd, and hopefully we come for more.

Q. Just to close it out I know you mentioned that putt on 18, can you just take us through the emotion that you felt when you, when that putt dropped and you heard all the roars from everybody around there that clearly quite are big fans of yours?

GABY LOPEZ: Yeah, it was about 16 feet uphill, right-to-left, one percent. And I've been hitting it, I've been hitting every single uphill putt short all week. I just told myself, just get it there. Like what's for you will not pass you and did a perfect stroke with that amount of pressure, I feel that that's exactly what I can take away is I can still feel that I can have the control of my emotions under that amount of pressure on the last hole of a major championship. Yeah, very proud.

Q. Touching on the putt on 18, how do you feel like that embodied your Chingona?

GABY LOPEZ: For sure. You know that was a Chingona putt for sure. I loved every aspect of it. I loved how calm I felt over the putt and even making it. I didn't go crazy as I would have before, but I still felt all the emotions. This is sack he Lee what I want to play for. This is exactly the position I want to be in and I'm looking forward to more to come.
