Pacific Palisades, California, USA
The Riviera Country Club
Flash Interview
Q. Sei Young Kim, 1-over par 72. Sei Young, you just finished your final round here at Riviera. What are your emotions right now?
SEI YOUNG KIM: I'm very, well I think a lot of mistakes today, especially hole 10. I missed a short putt. That's the biggest missed shot.
After that, my momentum was going down, so the last couple holes I made a bogeys, which means I wasn't comfortable like all day today, yeah.
Q. You got your first win in six years last fall in your home country. Almost won today and had a good chance at it. What's the -- what do you credit as the reason for this kind of resurgence in your game?
SEI YOUNG KIM: I think when I win the tournament I'm very strong last couple holes. But today I'm very uncomfortable when I played the last three holes. That's why that I pulled it a lot of shots.
So that's the way I felt about this week. So, yeah, I feel like I'm getting better, but I'm very a little bit emotional because I almost reached what my dreams were, yeah. Hopefully next time (laughing).
Q. What continues to motivate you at this point in your career?
SEI YOUNG KIM: All the players dream of winning the U.S. Open, and I've been trying for almost 15 years to play the U.S. Open, but I couldn't win. So, yeah, this year is the most, the closest, yeah, of the last year, of since like 15 years, so, yeah.
Q. How did it feel to play out here in front of this big crowd in California?
SEI YOUNG KIM: I love to play in California. It's a great city and there's good weather. A lot of Koreans live here, so they came out here to cheer for a couple Korean players, which I'm really happy to play here, yeah.
