ROLAND GARROS

May 22, 2026

Alexander Zverev

Paris, France

Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: Sascha, please tell us how the preparation is going and a couple of words about your first-round opponent.

ALEXANDER ZVEREV: Yeah, good. I have had some time off after Rome. I could take care of my back a little bit, so that was very, very useful.

I went to see some doctors in Germany, which was very, very useful, and I feel good. I feel like I'm ready to go, and yeah, hopefully I can show that on the court on Sunday.

THE MODERATOR: Questions in English.

Q. With the back, how long had that sort of been bothering you, and do you feel now that you have sort of got to the root of the issue?

ALEXANDER ZVEREV: Yeah, I mean, the back issue started last year, and I was really struggling the entire year. Then I went to see a very, very famous German doctor with Muller Wohlfahrt in December.

He did his treatments in December. He did two treatments in December. I felt unbelievable for the first three months of the season, let's say until end of April.

Then in Munich it started acting up again, and then after some matches I was really struggling, but the treatment he does, you need some days after that to feel well again, and I didn't have that until after Rome. After Rome I went to see him again. I went to see him twice within couple of days. I did two treatments again.

To be honest, it feels amazing after what he does, yeah.

Q. In respect of the media 15-minutes limit that is on at this tournament, we understand the reasons why. I just wondered if the response that you get is not what you want, how far are you personally willing to go if you had agreement from your contemporaries?

ALEXANDER ZVEREV: Yeah, I mean, look, I'll be honest, I'm not the one leading this, but I'm very happy to join, because I think there has to be some fairness towards the players, and it has to be fairness not only towards the No. 1, 2, and 3 of the world, but it has to be fairness where we can say that tennis players, you know, if you're ranked 250 in the world, you make a living from tennis.

I feel like if everybody comes together, our tours come together, the Grand Slams come together and get a fair percentage, get, you know, a plan together, that can happen.

I feel like a lot of players can benefit from it and not only, you know, as I said, the No. 1, 2, 3 in the world, where yes, the conversation is we want more money, that's not just the case. You know, we feel like there is players that are 200 in the world that are exceptional tennis players, and they're barely making a living or maybe even going minus.

The major sport that tennis is, I feel like that can change and that can change with the help of the biggest tournaments in the world.
