THE MODERATOR: Qinwen, welcome back to Roland Garros. Just talk about your preparation coming into the tournament this year.
ZHENG QINWEN: Yeah, I think the preparation has been good for me. Especially I had a good training block after Rome. So this good start.
THE MODERATOR: Questions in English.
Q. Just wondering, obviously you haven't been able to play too many matches this year, but how do you feel about your form, the matches that you did get on clay, and the build-up? Were you playing the way you wanted to play? I know you had spoken about trying to find the fire again. So is that how you feel right now, that it's back?
ZHENG QINWEN: Well, yes, since I arrived on the clay court season, I had few great matches. Of course, the result is not the way that I want. I felt I still need those extra push, extra energy in the important moment, because as you see, the last two matches, both of them I lost in third set, which is really close, and also, I got a lot of chance in the second set.
So I think my level is there. The difference is the mental, because been a while I didn't compete, and now I'm finally able to keep my concentration for a long time during all the match. I've been working hard on it.
Q. So what does it feel like to be back here, a place where you've had your biggest success? Do you feel like that can give you that sort of little extra thing in the third set, knowing that you've done it here before? Maybe not at this tournament, but at a pretty big tournament.
ZHENG QINWEN: Yes, I felt come back here is like come back to my dream place, because I had the best experience so far in 2024 and really good experience as well last year.
Like I said, I'm trying to keep my concentration as long as I can to practice, and I'm also curious to see what I'm going to do this year after coming back from injury, because I really love to play here in Roland Garros. As I always say, I want to stay as long as I can.
Q. Just a follow-up to that. You mentioned your injury and all the time off that you had. Were there any positives to that time off? Are there things you did or things you learned about yourself? You've been playing since you were very small all the time. Did you miss it more than you thought you would, or do you appreciate it more now? I'm curious what you learned during that time and if there was anything positive or maybe not.
ZHENG QINWEN: Yes, there is a lot of things I can learn from the injury time. For example, on decision-making, before to take a decision, you know, trying to ask more expert like this, maybe I could do better decision at that moment, and I can come back faster to the tour. Not to take so long.
You know, I missed the Australian Open. That was not the plan. So I learned a lot from that mistake and was really tough for me.
Right now is a new page again for me. I'm coming back from injury, which I never done that before, for so long time without tennis. Of course, I missed the tour.
I always said while after long time I didn't come back, I said I miss everyone here. Even the opponent, because I love to compete against them on court. I love the fighting there.
