ROLAND GARROS

May 24, 2026

Mirra Andreeva

Paris, France

Press Conference

M. ANDREEVA/F. Ferro

6-3, 6-3

THE MODERATOR: Mirra, congratulations on your win today. Can you just give us your overall thoughts on your performance and just the match in general.

MIRRA ANDREEVA: Yeah, I'm super happy with the win today. It was not an easy match to start the tournament. I have played against Fiona before, and I know that she's a very tricky opponent to play against. I'm just super pleased with how I played today and very happy to advance to the next round.

THE MODERATOR: Questions in English.

Q. You have a year with some ups and downs. I would like to know how important is for you the confidence that Conchita gives to you in the hardest moment?

MIRRA ANDREEVA: Yeah, of course. You know, to always feel the confidence from the coach, and especially from an ex-player, she always knows what to say at the right time. She knows what I'm going through sometimes.

She can also feel when I'm nervous even when I don't know that I'm nervous. You know, like today, before the match, I was a little bit cranky, was kind of up and down with my mood. First, I wanted to be alone, and then I was kind of all over everyone.

She kind of understood that I was nervous before I did, and, you know, she said a lot of nice and motivational things to me before the match, and it helped a lot.

Yeah, I'm just super happy that she knows me well enough, you know, to help me at these kind of moments.

Q. Were you bothered by the heat today for your first game?

MIRRA ANDREEVA: By the heat? Ah, the heat, the sun.

Yeah, I mean, it's a little bit unexpected for Paris, this kind of weather, but, you know, I was okay. Obviously it was pretty hot today, but we were both playing in these conditions. So, yeah, I'm just happy that I was prepared well for that, and, you know, it didn't really bother me on the court.

Q. What did it feel like for you walking back onto Chatrier today? Big assignment for opening day for you, and also, given that last time you were on there, things didn't go as you would have hoped that they had gone. Was it, I don't know, strange at all? What did it feel like?

MIRRA ANDREEVA: Well, I would say that it was not strange. I was kind of excited, because I thought that maybe they put me on Lenglen or maybe Simonne Mathieu, and then when I saw the schedule and I was playing on Chatrier, I was kind of pretty happy with that.

Yeah, the only thing I was a little bit worried about, I was hoping that the stadium wouldn't be too full, too packed today, because obviously that would have been a little bit harder.

But, you know, I felt like people were -- you know, they were encouraging both of us today on the court, and I was very happy with that, as well.

But I was just super excited to come back to this court. And, you know, being able to win the match on the first day of a slam is super special.
