ROLAND GARROS

May 30, 2026

Diane Parry

Paris, France

Press Conference

D. PARRY/A. Anisimova

6-3, 4-6, 7-6

THE MODERATOR: Diane, congratulations. It was a very hard-fought victory. What do you think made the difference out there?

DIANE PARRY: I think I just believed like all the match I could win and go take it even in three sets. I was feeling good physically. I felt like my game was disturbing her in some ways, so I was just trying to stay with this in my head and be able to go and take it in the end.

THE MODERATOR: Questions in English.

Q. I see you're dressed for the occasion tonight. Do you want to lock in a score prediction before it starts?

DIANE PARRY: I will say maybe 2-0 for the PSG. I hope so.

Q. What is your perspective before Sunday? There will be two fairy tales, if you are talking about the players that will play, because you will be playing against Chwalinska. So for both of you, a great opportunity.

DIANE PARRY: Yeah, of course. We expect, usually, that far in a tournament to play a girl I think maybe in the top 20, so I think it's a big opportunity for both of us. I will try to prepare the match and recovery really well to be at 100% for the next match and to be able to take this opportunity and go further in the tournament.

Q. You mentioned earlier how you felt your game was disturbing Amanda in some way. What specifically do you think was working really well?

DIANE PARRY: I think the slice. Even if it wasn't the best every time in the match, I think that I had some free points with this shot, and then I tried to, mostly, to take with my forehand when I had the opportunity, even if she was playing fast. So it wasn't easy every time to be able to take my forehand.

Yeah, just be ready on the first shot after the serve, and when I had the chance, to go and take the advantage in the point.

Q. Regarding the next round, the conditions will change. Obviously it's been very hot this week, and next week it will be a little bit cooler. How do you think that will change your game? Will it change the tension in your racquet or anything like that?

DIANE PARRY: Yeah, I think it will change a bit. Of course now it's super hot, and it's bouncing a lot on the court. Maybe it will be a bit slower and a bit lower for the next match, or I think I will just try to adjust the best we can. I mean, we're used to this also. In a week, we have different conditions every time, every day.

Yeah, we'll just be able to prepare the match as good as we can, and maybe tomorrow will be also different. Just take it day by day, I think.

THE MODERATOR: Questions in French.

Q. Well done. I have so many people telling me she didn't use a two-handed backhand before. When did you start using a two-handed backhand? When did you decide? When and how?

DIANE PARRY: I started before the season to work it to return, and it depends on the type of serve of my opponent, depending on the conditions and the player.

Here, it's a bit difficult, because there is a lot of rebound, so it's difficult to find the right distance. It depends on how I feel that day. It's not the same every day, because it's not a set shot for me yet.

I have to adapt, depending on the player and the conditions.

Q. In the last set, you were really strong mentally. Did you have in your mind these five third rounds in Grand Slam in your mind, or did you not think about that?

DIANE PARRY: Well, I may have had that in mind, but I tried to stay as much as possible into the match and to seize as many opportunities as possible. Even though I didn't seize them all, I was trying to make headway, and I could feel I was into the game, into the match. Even though there were ups and downs, I could feel that I could bother her, and I tried to catch onto that.

Q. I know it's a bit more complicated with Thomas. We know he's not that well. Can you tell us a bit what Julie Coin and Thomas give you, and what about the duo?

DIANE PARRY: Well, Thomas has a lot of experience and has coached the best players in the world, so basically I took him so that he could help me make headway.

He wasn't sufficiently present over the past few months, but now he's back. Julie is also very positive for me. It's good for me to have both of them together presently.

Q. If we look at the match, the beginning of the match was rather difficult. You were under pressure with your first serve, broken with your second serve game. Do you know when things changed?

DIANE PARRY: I knew she was going to get a lot of first shots through and counter me on all serves. I had to give her less opportunities so that she couldn't counter me properly. We know every time she gets a second shot, she plays very long, very fast, and very strong. So it's good to go for the more reachable points.

Not always easy, because sometimes she plays areas that are difficult to get to. But I wasn't that worried, because I knew it was one of her big shots, and all the reverse, in fact. It was a motivation to serve in better zones, better areas, and to get a better percentage.

Q. In the third set, as you said, you didn't seize all opportunities, but you never lost your focus and you always fought for it. Do you think you have overcome a certain point?

DIANE PARRY: Yes, probably in the past I could have thought I was failing or it was too difficult to attain. But this time I could see that when each of us held her serve, it was great.

Obviously it was frustrating not to seize all opportunities, but I tried to do it every time I could. If I had to have a super-tiebreak in the decider, well, I knew I would go for it and catch the points.

Q. Obviously it's the work you have done, but don't you think all planets are aligned? You are physically well, you are playing well, you have your two coaches. Everything seems to be fitting this time.

DIANE PARRY: Well, the physical part is the most important thing. It's what enables us to play match after match and be offensive, so that's the prerequisite to be able to play several matches. I feel good knowing that things are holding up, but it's the result of the work we've done before that people don't necessarily see.

Sometimes when you prepare a lot, you don't necessarily see the result right away. But this time I can see it, it paid off, and it's important to have everything in place mentally, physically, to be able to go and win the matches. It's a group of things.

Q. Do you know the player you're playing next? I know you have never played her. She's a lefty. Are you going to prepare trying to watch her? Do you have problems playing lefties? Are you going to train with a lefty?

DIANE PARRY: I don't know her that well. I know she played Alice Rame in the first round of the qualifications, and as I know Alice well, I'm going to ask her for information, and Julie's husband is coaching her, so we are going to watch her matches, and I'm going to try and train with a lefty, because I haven't prepared for that since the beginning of the tournament. I'll do my best. We'll do our best to prepare as well as possible.
