ROLAND GARROS

May 30, 2026

Victoria Mboko

Paris, France

Press Conference

M. KEYS/V. Mboko

6-3, 5-7, 7-5

THE MODERATOR: Vicky, bad luck today, but what are the positives you take from this Roland Garros?

VICTORIA MBOKO: Yeah, I mean, of course, Madison is not an easy player to play. She came out playing some great tennis.

Of course, maybe I wasn't feeling 100% or didn't feel like I was playing my best, but you know, she played better in the points where it mattered the most, so kudos to her.

THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.

Q. I was just curious, compared to last year, how did it feel, the experience of Roland Garros? Last year you were kind of on this big rise, and this year you're the No. 9 seed. Just how did it compare?

VICTORIA MBOKO: I feel like this time it's different, because I felt like I had an expectation kind of coming into here being the No. 9 seed. Of course, the circumstances are a lot different. Last year I was qualifying, everything was quite new to me.

You know, I think this, being here, this is a new experience as well by being a seed and having so much other thoughts in my head. I feel pretty good with how I handled it. I don't think I let it kind of overcome me too much, but yeah, I mean, I just did the best I could do this year.

Q. Vicky, how much, if at all, did the pec situation affect you? Did you have pain at all, did you feel like you couldn't hit the ball as hard as you wanted to? What was the overall affect of it?

VICTORIA MBOKO: Yeah, I mean, I started feeling the pec a little bit in Strasbourg, like the tournament before. Yeah, I mean, I kind of taped it up to support a little bit. I felt like it kind of wasn't really giving me a lot of power on it. I wouldn't say it's hurting me to the point where I can't play, because I'm able to play, but I mean, it's just been getting better each day. I'm just happy to be able to play.

Q. You mentioned you felt like you had an expectation as the No. 9 seed. What was that expectation? Like a certain round, or what was it?

VICTORIA MBOKO: I wouldn't say a certain round. I don't know. I think when you're a seed coming into a tournament, I feel like you want to go far. You kind of want to prove that you are a top seed and you can do well.

But, you know, I am not one person to honestly put that many expectations on myself, because you see upsets all the time. You never really know what's going to happen.

So, yeah, I mean, I just wanted to do the best I could. I mean, I did the same result like I did last year. Then again, Maddie is a really great player, so it's not like -- I mean, she has a really great level. She won a slam.

Yeah, I mean, I'm happy for her. She did really well today.
