ROLAND GARROS

May 31, 2026

Mirra Andreeva

Paris, France

Press Conference

M. ANDREEVA/J. Teichmann

6-3, 6-2

THE MODERATOR: Mirra, congratulations. Into your third consecutive Roland Garros quarterfinals. What were the keys to your win today?

MIRRA ANDREEVA: Yeah, I felt like today I was very focused throughout the whole match. I told myself that I cannot allow myself to make so many mistakes as I made in the previous matches.

I was extra focused today, tried to be aggressive, and yeah, super happy with the level that I put on the court today.

THE MODERATOR: Questions in English.

Q. I'm sure you're enjoying your new pin that you got.

MIRRA ANDREEVA: Yes, right there. Please, check it out, everyone.

Q. Obviously you're in your third straight Roland Garros quarterfinals. Do you start to feel more pressure? Obviously you're very young and you're still new onto the tour. Do you start to feel more pressure and stressed now that the end is kind of near?

MIRRA ANDREEVA: Well, I wouldn't say I feel stressed or pressured in particular. I feel like I'm just super excited to be playing here, and to be back in the quarterfinals is super special for me.

You know, all I feel is that I really want to win more matches here, and I really want to show some great tennis. So I don't know. For now, as I'm super happy about the win today. I'm not feeling any pressure. Maybe tomorrow it might change, but for now I would say that I'm just feeling very excited.

Q. Do you feel differently as a person or as a tennis player than you did from a year ago? More prepared for a big moment like this? And if so, how?

MIRRA ANDREEVA: I feel that, kind of, yes. I feel like I'm a little bit more prepared for some situations that might go not according to the plan on the court, either with my game or if my opponent starts to play better or if, I don't know, something happens with the crowd. I feel like I'm, kind of, I know what to do in those moments.

Maybe sometimes it doesn't work the best way, but I have the plan in my head that what I'm trying, you know, to have if something doesn't go according to the plan.

So I feel like that's been better. Obviously I also feel like I have kind of became a little bit more stronger physically and mentally, as well, even though, you know, the last match was not, like, the best (smiling).

But I still feel like, you know, I obviously have a lot of room to improve. Now it's been better, and I feel the difference on the court when I play.

Q. Is there any little routine that you go through, like breathing a certain way or closing your eyes or something you tell yourself that gets you in that super-stressful moment that happens because of either something external or internal?

MIRRA ANDREEVA: Well, sometimes, you know, there are thoughts that at one point come into your head that you cannot really control, like, I don't know: Oh, you have been playing so great. What if, you know, this stops? Or what if you start to miss? Or what if she starts to play better?

Then, you know, as I have been talking to my psychologist, she, you know, said to kind of imagine the big stop sign that is on the road, you know, that red sign with, like, big "Stop." So I have been trying to imagine that.

Obviously some breathing techniques as well. That helps a lot. And, you know, just to also just switch my focus a little bit. That's when I start to sing a song in my head. That also helps to kind of switch it up a little bit.

Yeah, some, like, different techniques like that that I use, and, you know, that most of the time help me on the court.

Q. Is there a particular song that you sing to yourself to focus? Because do I this and I have the same song every time.

MIRRA ANDREEVA: Well, sometimes, but it kind of depends if I hear something that day, then it will just stick in my head, and that's what I'm going to be singing. Sometimes I'm not going to even know the words, but the melody will be there.

But now all I can think of is, I don't know if you saw the match, but now the only melody I have in my head is from the group of people that were very supportive of Jil today, and the only thing that is playing in my mind is the chanting that they were using. So for now, I don't know, it's just what I have in my mind, for some reason.

Q. You're Jil Teichmann's supporter now...

MIRRA ANDREEVA: Yeah, kind of, I guess (smiling).

Q. The night matches, about the start, it's very rare they put women's matches in the night matches here. Are you someone who would be quite up for playing in that showcase event and why?

MIRRA ANDREEVA: Well, I have been playing a lot of night matches this year, I would say. In Australia, also last year in New York I have been playing, you know, very late, as well.

So I wouldn't say that I'm a huge fan to play, you know, the last match, the night session. You know, for me, it depends what the organizers do. If they put me in the night match, I'm going to be fine. Okay, I will play a night match. If they put me first match, I'm also going to be fine.

For me, it's easier not to focus on that. Whatever they do, I'll just go with it, and it's going to help me not to overthink and think too much about it.
