ROLAND GARROS

June 3, 2026

Anna Kalinskaya

Paris, France

Press Conference

M. CHWALINSKA/A. Kalinskaya

7-6, 6-3

THE MODERATOR: A tough battle today. Just give us your overall takeaways of the match and what your opponent did well today, as well.

ANNA KALINSKAYA: Well, she played really good, and today I feel like I was fighting against the wind, against the weather conditions, plus against her. Being lefty, it was very tricky today.

Of course, I'm disappointed and sad to lose, but it happened.

THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.

Q. Well done on the whole tournament. Just kind of talking about her game, she put a lot of height on some of her balls, and I think that kind of made it a little bit difficult with the wind that you were talking about. Can you share how maybe her game in that aspect with the height made it more difficult for you?

ANNA KALINSKAYA: Yes, it was cold today, so the ball was going slower. I couldn't use my speed, my power. So it definitely was an advantage for her today, for her game style.

That's why I couldn't feel like I was taking a lot of control of the point, because my ball was not very powerful, and it didn't hurt her too much.

Q. You started the match really well because you broke her straightaway. What changed after that or what went wrong? Was it just her upping her level, or you perhaps losing a bit control or struggling with the conditions?

ANNA KALINSKAYA: Then we changed sides, and I was against the wind. Well, I couldn't serve very well, because to toss the ball was very difficult. I didn't feel like I had too much advantage on my serve or return. Everything was equal in whole match.

Q. Just another one on her, do you feel that her game style could also work on other surfaces or it's very clay-specific and clay-efficient, but not really transposable to other surfaces?

ANNA KALINSKAYA: Well, I checked her statistics before. She only plays on clay. So she played maybe three matches on the hard court.

I don't know, let's see how she's going to -- because now she has a better ranking. She has to play different surfaces, so I would like to take her a match on grass or hard court.

Q. Because of the conditions, was it very frustrating for you mentally, and does that mean sometimes you hurried some of the shots and tried to finish points more quickly?

ANNA KALINSKAYA: It was just more difficult for my game, and some moments, yeah, I felt like frustrated, but I had to face it in the match and try to do my best. But I wouldn't say that mentally it made me feel really down or I thought about it every single point.

I just had to try to find a different way to win. Unfortunately, I couldn't today.
