F. COBOLLI/F. Auger-Aliassime
4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4
THE MODERATOR: Flavio, well done. Through to your first Grand Slam semifinal. What are the main feelings right now?
FLAVIO COBOLLI: First of all, I'm very happy to be sit here and winning about this match. It means a lot for me, and it's the first semifinal in a Grand Slam. It's a dream come true, and I think today I played a really good match also after a tough first set with tough condition.
But, yeah, I'm really happy about the performance.
THE MODERATOR: Questions in English.
Q. You spoke in the previous match about how nervous you felt late on in that match. I just wondered how you were feeling today and how you expect to be feeling ahead of the biggest match of your career so far?
FLAVIO COBOLLI: Yeah, I tried to breathe on the changeover, don't watch my team, because I felt that they was more nervous than me.
Yeah, I think I did something different from the other. Just tried to stay calm and play my tennis. Today in the last game I think I played very good tennis with good serve and good first shot.
Q. You talked on court about being superstitious. Have you always been like this since you were a kid? Do you have examples of what you do when you are getting superstitious?
FLAVIO COBOLLI: No, I mean, I am a little bit, but not crazy. But, you know, this week I'm a little bit more crazy than the other. I just go same restaurant, same menu, same shower.
Actually, I think I said on the first press that I used the same shower as Rafa, because I had memory with that shower that I tried to stall to him, and he knocked to me, and I had to be hurry because he was waiting on me.
He told me that it was his shower since 14 years (smiling), and so I think the best thing that I'm used to do is the shower (laughter).
Q. You said on the court that when you went off court into the bathroom at the end of the first set, you said to yourself, This is the chance of my life. Did you mean the match, or did you mean to win the tournament?
FLAVIO COBOLLI: No, just play that match. I mean, it's not usual to play the quarterfinal in Grand Slam. So I just said to myself to, Let's fight. You're here. You deserve it. Let's try.
That's what I said.
Q. Have you thought about it? Have you imagined it?
FLAVIO COBOLLI: What did you say? Sorry.
Q. Have you imagined winning the title?
FLAVIO COBOLLI: For now, no. I just want to think about next one. But I know that I'm close, you know. Only two matches, but it's long way.
Q. Do you feel like now that you have reached your career-best result on a Grand Slam, the pressure is a bit off from your next match or the pressure is even bigger because the opportunity gets bigger with each match?
FLAVIO COBOLLI: Depend how you live this kind of thing. I think I never put pressure on myself. I like to live the moment like if I was kid, just with good, big passion, and a big smile. That's what I do also for the next one.
Q. I wanted to ask about your next match against Matteo, what you think it would be like facing him, or if it's not Matteo, then what it would be like to play Matteo?
FLAVIO COBOLLI: For sure it will be another derby, but I think we have to be happy for the Italian tennis. Another Italian, apart Sinner and Lorenzo, are in the final this week. So we have to be happy, and we have to enjoy that match.
I don't know with who I have to play, but I also played at their biggest week, so it's not the first also for me. So I think I would be ready.
Q. You talked earlier in the week about your past as a footballer. Just wondering how you think that helps your tennis game, maybe all the running you do as a footballer when you were younger, physically? What do you think?
FLAVIO COBOLLI: Physically, for sure, but it's a question that everyone ask me, but I cannot answer. For sure, football helped me a lot for something, but I cannot tell you for what.
For sure I have a good physical skill and a lot of stamina, and maybe football helped me a lot.
