A. OKTIABREVA/S. Xinran
6-2, 6-1
THE MODERATOR: Alisa, congratulations on this title. You only dropped three games today to lift that lovely trophy. What does this mean to you?
ALISA OKTIABREVA: Thank you (smiling). It means a lot. I mean, I think every time I'll look at it, it will mean, like, the whole process and the hard work we did, me and my coaches.
So, yeah, it means a lot. Thank you.
THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.
Q. Congratulations. When we spoke yesterday, you talked about you weren't necessarily sure you wanted to play in the main draw, you had some injuries, and you thought, let's go for this title. Now that the title is achieved, how does that make you feel?
ALISA OKTIABREVA: Can you repeat it?
Q. You said yesterday you weren't sure whether you wanted to go for the main draw to play the women's, but then you got injured, and you said, It's Roland Garros, let's try and win the girls singles. Now that you've done that, how does that feel?
ALISA OKTIABREVA: We've done it, I think (smiling). It's a huge relief, but at the same time it's a big achievement for me, for my coach. It's just like pure happiness and big relief.
Q. How did you feel about your play today overall? You looked incredible. You were all over the court. Your opponent has a great backhand. She's very talented. You were able to control the match the whole way.
ALISA OKTIABREVA: I felt really good today. My mindset was just, like, go for it. So I tried to play just as aggressive as possible.
I knew the conditions were playing on my side, because I think she's more like a hard court player. I like more like these windy and wet conditions.
So I think I really believed that, after the semis especially, that I'm just going for it. Yeah, I just went, like, through and forward.
Q. What are the plans going forward now? What do you want to do? You'll go back and focus on some senior tennis? Where do you go to next?
ALISA OKTIABREVA: Yeah, for sure I want to continue to play pro events. Now I'm not sure which one is going to be my next one, because I have to go back home. Then I have some exams in school for next few weeks.
So, yeah, I was thinking about playing juniors Wimbledon. Now I'm not really sure. We'll see.
So some, like, pro event, I guess some ITF or WTA. It depends where I'll get in.
Q. On those exams, what are you studying, and what's your best subject? Which one are you fearing the most?
ALISA OKTIABREVA: I'm studying, like, high school. It's like a business academy. Tough to say.
I hate, like, computer science. I'm always, like, struggling with it. Yeah, I should be that generation which is into it. I'm not really (laughing). I'm old-style.
Which one I like the most, I cannot say. I don't think I have one specific subject I like. I just like to learn what I'll use in the future. I think that's economics in the most part, yeah.
Q. Could you elaborate on your relations with your first coach? We saw you were crying, he was crying, everybody was crying around. Yeah, you said a bit on the court about him. Could you elaborate on this?
ALISA OKTIABREVA: Yeah, I mean, he's like a special person for me. I have a special space in my heart for him, so it meant really a lot for me to -- him to come today to support me.
I was so happy. I remember those days when I just went to practice after school when I was 6, 7 years old, and sometimes I just didn't really want to play. He always made me laugh on the court, even in the bad days.
Q. Can you talk a little bit about your heroes in tennis growing up? Are there players that you've looked up to?
ALISA OKTIABREVA: That's Novak Djokovic, for sure. I love his mentality, his mental side. I love how he, I don't want to say, like, control his emotions, because it's tough, and we are all just humans. But how he can, like, be in those situations, how can he solve those situations inside of himself.
So that's what I really admire and look up to, because I think a few years ago, I was really struggling with it, too, on court. I was always like kind of crazy kid on the court. Now I think I improved, but I'm still, like, working on it.
So I think he's the biggest one.
Q. Can you talk a bit about your opponent today? It's interesting that you played two times this year with the same scoreline. Can you just share a bit of thoughts about her? Thank you.
ALISA OKTIABREVA: Thank you. I mean, my opponent, she's playing huge for her age. I think she's doing really nice. When I went on the court today, I didn't really look on our last match, because it was in different conditions. It was hard court. That one, I think she didn't really feel good. I think she was struggling physically.
So I expected, like, much more from her today, but I think I just stayed and stick to my game. But what she has done at her age, it's so big. I wish her all the best.
