Paris, France

Press Conference

T. ODA/A. Hewett

6-3, 6-3

THE MODERATOR: Tokito, congratulations. How does it feel to become a Roland Garros champion for the fourth time in a row?

TOKITO ODA: Yeah, I mean, it's feeling very happy right now and very unforgettable moment. I been try to get this title for -- it's been four years, and now I made it. Just very happy right now.

I feel like I spent many time for this title. I work really hard on the clay court.

When I lost in April in Japan tournament, and me and my team thinking to how we're going to do after I lost in Japan tournament. Me and my team working really hard to get this title, so I'm just very happy.

THE MODERATOR: Questions.

Q. Congratulations. What is it about Paris and playing here that you love so much?

TOKITO ODA: I feel like I cannot miss this one forever (smiling), because you know, it's always feeling different when I came to Paris and when I play matches in Roland Garros, because I won the Paralympic games, and I won three times in here.

I definitely feeling like I cannot miss here, but now I just got, you know, to play here. I feel like I made it.

Q. The triumph today, you won the first set, but then Alfie responded in the second set. You were down a service break. How did you turn it around, and how tricky was it given the conditions?

TOKITO ODA: Yeah, at the beginning of the second set was I was too release and too relax. So I need spirit more than him and more than the first set.

My first serve the percent was, I think, it was no good today, and I got many double fault today. Well, that time was a tough time. That time I feel like I need to building from now to the end.

I knew he's going to coming back from the second set. I definitely feel like he's coming from when I was Love-3. When he won a lot of points and when he lead the game, he playing really well.

I was worried about it, but I got the six games from there, so just feeling very good (laughing), yeah.

Q. How do you celebrate this? Have you received lots of messages already from home, from Japan?

TOKITO ODA: I turned 20 last month, so finally I can open champagne right now. Definitely we're going to open champagne with my team. Yeah, I work with that.
