U.S. WOMEN'S OPEN

June 6, 2026

In Gee Chun

Pacific Palisades, California, USA

The Riviera Country Club

Flash Interview

Q. 2-under, 69. 11 years since you won this last time, how were you able to stay at this level?

IN GEE CHUN: I mean, I just kept playing year by year and just focus on what I can do out there. Sometimes I had a hard time on the course, but I just trust the people who trust me and they kept cheering me on. And I want to give something back to my fans and my sponsor, and that was a really good motivation to keep playing out here.

Q. Talk a little bit about the golf course today and evaluate your performance.

IN GEE CHUN: Kikuyu is very rare, so I think I feel like I don't have experience playing out of the can I kikuyu, it was hard when I'm playing the practice round.

But, you know, it's just a cool setting. It's the same for every player, so I just do what I can do.

Q. Can you take us through the 6th hole, the chip over the bunker.

IN GEE CHUN: 16?

Q. No. 6. You chipped on the green over the bunker.

IN GEE CHUN: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I had two options, to putt all the way to the left, but it still was hard to make it stop. I have to accept that the next putt would be like more than 10 feet.

But me and my caddie, Charlie, both agreed we have other option to chip and then use the back slope there. And I feel really comfortable to chip on the green and then for sure felt comfortable not to make the scratch on the green (laughing). So I decided to do it and for sure it was a great up-and-down, yeah.

Q. So you were comfortable hitting that shot?

IN GEE CHUN: Yeah. Because I had so many good memories that I made successful shots on the chipping on the green, yeah. And then I saw the video, LPGA video like Danielle did it and other players and I'm like, why not? I can do it too.

Q. Three major championships, gunning for your fourth. What is it about these events that brings out the best in you?

IN GEE CHUN: I mean, it's a great honor to have the three majors on the LPGA Tour. I always feel very happy and thankful when I heard four times winner, three times major champion In Gee Chun on the first tee at every tournament. That's really nice and I feel very special in my whole life, and, yeah.

Q. You've done it obviously three times before to win major. What is the key for you on a Sunday to close one out?

IN GEE CHUN: I mean, always the U.S. Open has a great, cool setting out there. We have so many good players here. But I don't want to be like perfect every time, I just simply know what I can do out there and just have to take it day by day my swing coach is here and so we just are having a great week this week.

So just trying to enjoy the next day and then, I mean, I'm ready to go tomorrow. First thing I will have the great dinner tonight first, yeah.
