Tyrrell Hatton

Thomas Detry

Sotogrande, Spain

Real Club Valderrama

Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: Let's welcome Tyrrell Hatton from Legion XIII and Thomas Detry from 4Aces GC. Tyrrell, great round again today, 4-under par round of 67. You're leading at 10-under. Can you take us through your round today?

TYRRELL HATTON: Yeah, got off to a great start making birdie on 1. I feel like the front nine generally played pretty solid, so I was happy with that. Then yeah, making bogey on 10 wasn't ideal. But a good bounce-back making birdie on 11.

Yeah, I had my putter to thank with a few par saves there on the back nine, and somewhat fortunate on 17. Obviously the second shot didn't have a great number. I was in between clubs. Yeah, tried to take the longer club and get it up in the air, which is never easy off a downslope, and then it being quite downwind, just backed out of it. But got very lucky with where it finished up, and ended up being a good up-and-down and made another birdie.

Q. Thomas, 4-under par round of 67. You're currently second behind Tyrrell at 8-under par. Can you take us through your game today?

THOMAS DETRY: Actually very similar to Tyrrell's round. We both got off to a good start. I felt like we fed from each other, as well. He had a couple of good bounce-backs and a couple of good up-and-downs. Same with me. But we got off to a good start, and I guess exactly just like him, we both made bogeys -- actually the whole group made bogey on -- no, he made a double, but we made bogeys on 10, which sort of felt like it stung a little bit because we had some good momentum going, but I think that birdie on 11 was a nice key moment to the round to sort of keep the momentum going.

I don't really think I missed many shots, to be honest, down the stretch. I played really solid. Bit of a shame not to birdie 17. I hit a great drive and I had a 7-iron into the green and just three-putted that from the back fringe.

But I'm not going to complain. I'm very happy with where I am. I've got a great opportunity to go low tomorrow and see what happens.

Q. Thomas, 4Aces are leading the team score at 12-under par. You've already taken three wins this season. What do you guys need to do tomorrow to get the job done again?

THOMAS DETRY: You know, that's a good question. I've played a lot of team golf in college, and I feel like the key in those moments is to each just really focus on themselves and take care of business. That's what our coach used to tell us all the time when we were in college. The individual sort of takes care of the pack.

So if we can each fight for every single putt and every single shot and make sure we don't leak out stupid shots out there because it's definitely out there on the golf course, I think we're in a good position to win for the first time tomorrow.

Q. You'll be playing with Sergio tomorrow in the final group. Knowing his track record here and his history, do you try to not even think about that, or is that something you kind of embrace the challenge of knowing you're going against a guy that obviously has multiple wins on this course?

TYRRELL HATTON: Well, I think it would be pretty obvious who they'd want to win tomorrow, and it won't be either of us two. That's fine. Ultimately we both have our own jobs to do. I'll go out there and try my best, try not to worry about if the crowd are trying -- almost being disruptive at times. If Sergio finishes first and there's a lot of movement and they're walking off, you might just have to take a little bit more time, and that's fine. It kind of happens everywhere around the world anyway.

Yeah, I've got enough experience now, and I'll just try and play my game and do the best I can.

THOMAS DETRY: Pretty much what he says sums it up. I've known Sergio for a long time and I have great respect for him, but I'm definitely planning on beating him tomorrow. He's definitely a king out here. Unbelievable what he's achieved in his career, and especially on this golf course.

No, I think tomorrow will be a fun day and a fun battle for everybody. Hopefully having a few Spanish on top of the leaderboard will bring some great crowds. It was pretty great today, so hopefully I'm expecting some nice people, some nice crowds tomorrow, as well.

Q. I wanted to ask you about your putting. It seems like you've been rolling it really well this week. I assume that's why at 10 you seemed pretty -- you weren't sure what happened there. You were looking at the hole really hard afterwards.

TYRRELL HATTON: Yeah, I mean, I feel like I hit a really good putt on 10, and the fact that it's not even hit the hole from four and a half, five feet was somewhat surprising.

Yeah, I changed putters back in -- I should remember. Actually I think Washington was the first time I used it. It's the same shape as what I've been using for the last few years, it's just got an insert so the ball comes off a little bit quicker.

Perfect example was on 18 there; that come off a little bit too quick.

Yeah, I feel comfortable with it. Different grip. Hopefully it works well tomorrow.

Q. You were here two years ago when Sergio rallied from seven shots back in the final round. Does that kind of indicate that there's a lot of guys still in the hunt, even though you've got a couple-shots lead and a pretty healthy lead over most of the pack?

TYRRELL HATTON: I mean, it's quite a quirky golf course, so a lot can happen around this place. Shots can -- you can lose shots very quickly, but also if you play great, you can make birdie. Hopefully I can play great tomorrow and give myself plenty of opportunities, and we'll see what happens.
