Flash Interview
Q. We're here with Ronni Yin after a 2-under round. Two under-par rounds to start off the U.S. Open. You have to feel pretty good about that.
RUONING YIN: Yeah, can't complain. Bogey-free round as well.
Q. What have you learned from Riviera so far, and what is it going to take to get it done over the next two rounds?
RUONING YIN: What I've learned so far, if you're in the rough, just try your best to put your ball on the green and make a two-putt there, yeah.
Q. You've had some experience in U.S. Opens now. Do you like that tougher test? How does the experience help you for this week?
RUONING YIN: Yes, I love it. I always say that the more difficult, the better, yeah.
Q. You made three birdies in a row yesterday to close out your opening 18. What did that do for your confidence or your momentum heading into today?
RUONING YIN: Especially yesterday, I played with Gaby. Gaby was on fire on the front nine. I think, when I make the turn, I was 1-over and she was already 5-under. So I was just trying to stay in it and just be patient. Yeah, I just had a really good run at the end.
Q. How solid and stress free does golf feel right now? You seem to be just on fire.
RUONING YIN: I had a lot of stress today (laughter). Yeah, it's U.S. Open, it's meant to be tough. You can't really have a stress-free moment on the course until it's all done.
I think the stress and the pressure, it's also a privilege.
Q. What have you learned from your previous U.S. Opens? I know there was different courses, but what have you learned that's worked for you and what hasn't that is helping you here this weekend?
RUONING YIN: Again, it's a major, it's tough. I think everybody is aware of that. All I need to do is just stay patient because I know my game is right there. You just really need to stay patient, and then one shot at a time.
Q. How did winning at Baltusrol change your life?
RUONING YIN: Quite a bit. Quite a bit. Because I think winning on the LPGA Tour is difficult, and winning a major is even more difficult. Winning at Baltusrol definitely boosted my confidence, and I just want to get another one.
