Flash Interview
Q. We're here with Nelly Korda after a 4-under 67. Nelly, a great round. How did it feel?
NELLY KORDA: Great. Definitely improved from yesterday, especially off the tee. Found myself in a couple more fairways than I did yesterday, and that just kind of helped me be a little bit more aggressive going into the greens.
Overall, yeah, very happy with my round today.
Q. A great crowd out there for you. How does that feel?
NELLY KORDA: It's always so much fun to play in front of a great crowd. Obviously just noticing how much our crowds have changed over the past couple years. So it's a great improvement. Definitely puts a smile on my face.
I think we all just want to play really well for them too.
Q. What can you say about your putting today, Nelly?
NELLY KORDA: My putting? Yeah, very happy with it. Made some solid par putts or even bogey putts yesterday that kept me in it. Overall, just really happy with the way my game is trending, especially from yesterday.
It was a little bit -- it was weird because I was striking it so well Monday through Wednesday, and all of a sudden I just really didn't -- I had no idea what was going on yesterday with my driver. So tried to figure it out on the range after the round and kind of got a little bit of something kind of going.
Yeah, I still hit a few out right today, but it was much, much better. Got a little bit of something going. Still hit a few out right today, but it was much, much better.
Q. How have you learned to shed the frustration of a Thursday like that and refocus to what you did today on Friday?
NELLY KORDA: I just tried to have a really easygoing attitude today. I was definitely going to leave it all out there and grind as much as I could, but I was not going to emphasize on my mistakes too much and just kind of play relaxed golf.
That's kind of when I play my best golf.
Q. Could you share what the swing thought was that you had today?
NELLY KORDA: Actually, a big shout out to my sister because she helped me. I just tried to strengthen my grip a little bit. I just kind of keep laying it off at the top and I've been working on it -- gosh, grinding on it for five weeks, and I can't get it. I don't know what I'm doing in my swing, so I just try to strengthen my grip.
It felt super funky today, but I just trusted and went with it.
Q. At what point did she share that?
NELLY KORDA: On the range yesterday after the round, yeah.
