May 30, 2026

Soo Bin Joo

Galloway, New Jersey, USA

Seaview Hotel & Golf Club, Bay Course

Quick Quotes

Q. Joining us after the second round of the ShopRite LPGA is Soo Bin Joo. Soo Bin, strong round today. The conditions out there were tough. 3-under is the low round of the of the day so far. Can you talk about how you were managing the wind and the conditions?

SOO BIN JOO: Yeah, so starting from the first hole, I almost shank my 3-wood on the first tee. I mean, it looked way bad because of the wind. I knew that it was going to play as a different golf course, like a totally different golf course comparing to yesterday, so I was trying to stay mentally calm and also physically calm, too.

So, yeah, I think that worked out.

Q. There is some superstitions about starting a round with a birdie or a bogey. How do you bounce back or not let yourself get caught up when you start your round with a bogey?

SOO BIN JOO: So I really don't like making any superstitions, so I just read Bible and keep my mind as calm as I can. Yeah, I think that is how my mental game is pretty calm.

Q. What was the biggest difference between today's round versus yesterday's round for you?

SOO BIN JOO: I think the biggest difference is the course condition and my game plan was totally different. I mean, I was barely making pars on the golf course today and yesterday was like going for birdies on every single hole.

So different game plan and a different mindset. I think that put me in a good position today.

Q. Then your two closing birdies, 17 and 18, how does that set you up and make you feel ready to keep this momentum going into tomorrow?

SOO BIN JOO: Yeah, I mean, finish two birdies in a row on the last few -- two holes, that's a big difference I think, and I'm really excited to see -- I mean, excited to play tomorrow.

Q. What was the biggest problem that wind presented to you? Was it club selection? Was it keeping the ball -- not letting it move on the green? What was the biggest issue caused by the wind?

SOO BIN JOO: For me my body get more nervous like playing in the wind and playing in a cold weather, and that was really hard to manage for the first couple holes. But I kind of figured it out. I've learned a lot from today's game so I'm really proud of myself.

Q. Did the wind die down a little bit towards the end or was it still the same?

SOO BIN JOO: It was still the same. Yeah, it was keep blowing and blowing and blowing.

Q. Did you look at scores in the morning and see that kind of everybody was shooting over par and that obviously you looked outside and saw it was windy and stuff like that? Did you have in any idea how tough it was before you got here?

SOO BIN JOO: No. I didn't know it was going to be this tough. It was super tough today because the wind was crazy.

Q. You're in the lead. What would winning an LPGA event mean to you, and how will you sort of handle tonight going into tomorrow with the lead basically?

SOO BIN JOO: I mean, winning LPGA tournament is a dream come true, so, I mean, I started playing golf because I want to win a tournament on LPGA, so it will be super fun, very exciting, but right now I just want to get a hot shower. So cold, yeah. Freezing.
