SHOPRITE LPGA POWERED BY WAKEFERN

May 30, 2026

Celine Boutier

Galloway, New Jersey, USA

Seaview Hotel & Golf Club, Bay Course

Quick Quotes

Q. Joining us after the second round of the ShopRite LPGA is Celine Boutier. Celine, it was a hard-fought round out there but you had some good birdies coming in on that back nine. Can you just talk about what was important for you to capitalize on when the conditions were a bit trickier?

CELINE BOUTIER: Yeah, it was definitely a bit harder to get it close in general. I was able to take advantage of the par-5s. I think that was kind of the key. I feel like you have to take the opportunities where they come, and I feel like on the par-3s and par-4s especially it was hard to get it close.

I'm pretty happy with the way I was able to handle some breaks and was able to come back for a tough second round.

Q. Yeah, we heard a lot about the wind today and the pin placements. Talk about how differently this course plays when the wind picks up.

CELINE BOUTIER: Yeah, it's just definitely harder to hit fairways, harder to hit greens, and then with club selections it's very tricky as well because it's sometimes very gusty, so you kind of have to hit it at the right time kind of thing.

So it was hard to figure out the club selection as well. Especially when it's blowing so hard helping but also into, sometimes it's kind of not easy to know how much it's going to affect the ball.

So I thought it was, yeah, definitely a challenging rounds, but have to like stay patient and not play too aggressive, because especially with the pins that were a little bit on the edges and stuff like that, you have to kind of go for the middle a lot of times.

Q. In addition to club selection, how else did the wind sort of impact you today? Did you have any specific shot or two where the wind really impacted that shot?

CELINE BOUTIER: Yeah, I mean, I can definitely think after few, especially on the back nine. I mean, I think it was No. 14 was blowing really hard behind and I thought it was going to help a lot more than it did.

And I think with the lies as well, because I had a downhill lie a few times, and sometimes instead of helping the helping wind is kind of like knocking it down, so it's a little bit harder that way.

Then the hole after, I think it was, yeah, 15, dead into the wind and I was really in between, and my 3-hybrid came up like 30 yards short. So it was hard to gauge sometimes that way.

Q. You played here a lot; you've won here. Can you remember a day as challenging as this where the wind was as much of a factor as it was today?

CELINE BOUTIER: I mean, I always remember that it gets windy. I just don't remember it being this windy before. It's been a couple years, but I feel like it's always a little bit there, maybe five to ten miles, fifteen miles. But, yeah, today was definitely a bit more extreme.

Q. Looks like we're going to have a crowded leaderboard heading into tomorrow's round with a lot of players within a couple shots of the lead. What is your approach when you face a day like that? You came from behind to win here a couple years. A lot times players come from behind, so you're never really out of it here. What's the mental approach you take into tomorrow's final round?

CELINE BOUTIER: Yeah, I think it's kind of always the case here. I feel like tomorrow because it's supposed to be a calmer day it's definitely going to be the case where lot of players have a chance to play for the win if they have a low round.

I think you just have to go out there and make the most birdies you can and, yeah, hope it's enough, because it's definitely one of the situations where you have a lot of players that have a chance to go for it.

Q. Besides the wind, what were some other challenges today?

CELINE BOUTIER: I mean, I think the wind is the most impactful on this course. It impacts from the tee shot, from the club selection, and also putting, because your line can change. Even chipping sometimes the green can go right-to-left, but if the wind is blowing that hard-left-to-right, it's actually going left-to-right.

So it's just impacting the whole game.

Q. And you talked earlier about the crowded leaderboard; you're never really out of this. How do you approach the next day?

CELINE BOUTIER: Just start over and try to do my best. I think it's going to be scoring a lot lower tomorrow than today, so we'll see how it goes.
