Q. Charles, great day of golf. How would you assess today?

CHARLES HOWELL III: Yeah, I must see Bryson's name up there and try to follow him. Man, this place is tricky. If you miss the fairway, it is really hard around here. Hole locations are quite difficult here on these corners. It's tough to make birdies. You see it; playing practice rounds, I thought the scores would be really low here and they're just not. It's really firm with difficult hole locations, and it's just tough.

Q. What do you think it is about your game that suits this course? Is it the fact you have to move the ball both ways and access different pins?

CHARLES HOWELL III: Well, I've driven it well so far this week to keep the ball in the fairway, and you have to do that. You really can't play here out of the rough. You're just not going to hit the greens. Need a good day of driving tomorrow, and we can see what happens.

Q. You had a second in Korea last year. What did you learn, and what are you going to take leading into tomorrow?

CHARLES HOWELL III: You've got to keep making birdies. You've got to keep pushing forward. There's too many good players up there and too many good players in these fields. Yeah, keep pressing.
