SHOPRITE LPGA POWERED BY WAKEFERN

Galloway, New Jersey, USA

Seaview Hotel & Golf Club, Bay Course

Quick Quotes

Q. Joining us after the first round of the ShopRite LPGA powered by Wakefern is Nicole Broch Estrup. You had a great round today, 64. This is your first start on Tour in over a year. Can you just talk about how it feels to be out here competing and putting up such a low score?

NICOLE BROCH ESTRUP: I mean, it feels great. Yeah, I mean, I've been looking forward to coming back for a long time, so to be here and just be able to travel with Max and Kasper as well, I feel very grateful to be out here again.

Yeah, today's score is just an extra bonus really.

Q. Yeah, you had two different birdie streaks. Can you talk a bit about those birdies specifically, and how you kind of balance and maintained your emotions.

NICOLE BROCH ESTRUP: To be honest I got really nervous, especially on the second streak. It hit me on nine when I was -- I had like, I don't know, a 20-footer for eagle. Left myself like a three-footer for birdie and then I started shaking to be honest.

But it's -- having Max here and, you know, having Max in general just gives another perspective. My biggest goal is to not get in my own way. I feel like I was definitely not striking it well today, but I just kept a smile on my face and took the good bounces.

Yeah, so it was nice day in many ways.

Q. Yeah, one of our LPGA Tour moms on Tour. Can you just talk about what it means to you to be out here competing after...

NICOLE BROCH ESTRUP: It means a lot, and the daycare here is -- I mean, we've only experienced it four days so far, but it's been amazing.

So far I'm pretty sure Max loves it too. So it gives hope, and we're hopeful we can make it work as a family out here. Yeah, the LPGA daycare definitely helps us with that.

Q. And then just heading into the next two rounds of competition, how are you going to keep the momentum going or what's going to be your focus?

NICOLE BROCH ESTRUP: I would definitely like to hit more fairways. Yeah, as I said, I wasn't really striking it well, but it was one of those days where the bounces were with me and I made a few good putts here and there.

So, yeah, my goal is to hit more fairways the next two days.

Q. When you tee'd off (indiscernible), so you knew it was a possibility. Did that impact your strategy when you started?

NICOLE BROCH ESTRUP: To be honest I did not have a score goal today. My goal was to just enjoy the first round back. I had absolutely -- I mean, I knew I was coming with something game-wise, like I am hitting the ball well and I have been practicing well, but my expectations were just to go out there and try my best.

Scoring-wise I know you can shoot low around here, but it was not in my mind at all.

Q. 54 holes, does that require getting off to a fast start?

NICOLE BROCH ESTRUP: I mean, for sure. I am definitely happy I got a fast start. But, again, this week is not about -- obviously I would like a good result on Sunday, but this week is not about the result for me. It's more about trying to figure out this new life for all of us out here.

Q. (Indiscernible.) How satisfying would it be to...

NICOLE BROCH ESTRUP: I mean, that would be absolutely unreal. Yeah, I'm definitely trying not to get too far ahead of myself. That would, you know, be amazing.
