Pit Lane Interview
Q. What a wild night for Tyler Reddick, dominant at times, winds up in fourth place. I want to know what happened in that stage 3. It seemed like you were in a great spot, Tyler. What happened?
TYLER REDDICK: Just unfortunate timing. Our Mobil 1 / O'Reilly Auto Parts Camry was really good all night. Just the one run that got away from us was the end of that stage 3. Ultimately, that's kind of what put us in that spot, fourth to seventh for a number of the restarts with a few of the delays at the end there.
Yeah, just tough. Man -- yeah, it's just tough. I've come here and ran really good a number of years. Probably the most we've led in the Coca-Cola 600. I know racing for points, there's a couple on the calendar where it's all about the win, and this is one of them. This one just stings.
On the other hand, the more important hand, I just really hope that the Busch family can really get through this. I hope the support that they saw from everybody here today over the last couple days can really help them heal and move forward.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Busch family. I hope today and this weekend they got to see how much we stand behind them and we're going to be there to support them as they go through this.
Q. I want to ask you about the final few restarts. Were you and Bell and Hamlin thinking Suárez is up there on two tires, surely you were going to be able to pass him?
TYLER REDDICK: Yeah, earlier in the race, I believe it was Zane Smith, did a really good job on two tires. Kind of the same thing. This track is difficult. Some of those cars that get stuck mid-pack probably better than they realize.
I didn't get to race around Denny really at all tonight. So I didn't know what his strengths and weaknesses were. It seemed like Christopher was getting close to being able to make a move on him. It seemed like the two tires can hang on for a little bit.
All in all, just unfortunate that this one was rain shortened. But it's done. We'll move on to Nashville.
