TPC Craig Ranch

Quick Quotes

Q. Si Woo, 11-under 60, had a chance at 59 but bogeyed the last. Can you just talk about the atmosphere that was out there all day and that grouping in that round that you had going?

SI WOO KIM: Yeah, I had a great grouping, some of my favorite two players, and it was fun to play with them.

I hit it great and putted great. So everything was perfect, other than the last hole. I'll still take it. 60 is hard, but I was a little bit of thinking about the 59 after I make that on 17. It was a little bit of like adrenalin.

Yeah, it was a tough shot, but I'll take it still, 60.

Q. Just walk us through that 18th hole when you hit it right of the green there. Just describe that shot that you had there.

SI WOO KIM: Yeah, I was in between 195, kind of like between 5 and 6, and the wind was like a little into off the left. So I feel like I had to hit it really hard with a 6-iron.

I think I hit it okay, but I think it was too much pumping. So it went farther than I thought.

Q. What sort of lie did you have over there for the chip shot?

SI WOO KIM: Lie was actually fine other than really downslope. But I can prefer lie and then I can put it up a nice lie in the zoysia. Lie was good. Actually, I hit it too good, that's why it spin too much, went short a little bit. It was a good chip.

Then putting, I hit it really great, but misread it a little less.

Q. I'm just wondering, the fact that you live here, play here, out of here, and C.J. is the title sponsor, do you feel in a sense that this say hometown event for you, and do you feel that when you're out on the course?

SI WOO KIM: Yes, staying in my own bed is a huge advantage, I think, especially close to home. My sponsor C.J. for the event. So everything feels like home and feels comfortable.

I play a couple times here, once a year, twice a year. So everything feels really comfortable here.

Q. I wonder what the conversation might have been between you and Scottie because you both got hot there. You were both hot down the stretch. Did he say anything funny?

SI WOO KIM: We're not talking about the score or golf much, but we had a good conversation. I mean, I can't tell, but it was enjoyable. I was hoping for him to make the last hole so we can play together. Hopefully Sunday.

Q. Was there a shot or a putt that really surprised you, particularly on that back nine, when you were taking it deep?

SI WOO KIM: I think it was 15. I was everything committed, and some guy was making sneeze during my backswing. So I pull out back and hit a wrong shot, and it went straight and ended up like 10 feet. So I made birdie that hole. That makes me a little bit more good mood.
