Quick Quotes
Q. How was it out there playing with that young man over there today?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I was joking there earlier, I felt like I was hitting all my shots to 15, 20 feet and Si Woo was hitting all his shots to like 8 feet or closer.
Yeah, it was fun to watch. I was glad for myself to be able to kind of stay in the tournament. I made some nice putts there on the back nine, but it's always fun to watch Si Woo do his thing.
Q. Of all the facets of your game that you were in control of today, what did you have most command of, and why was it right for this day on this course?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Probably my mind. I feel like, when you're watching somebody like Si Woo, especially when you're paired with him, just watching somebody birdie every hole and you feel like the tournament is getting further and further away from you, I think I did a good job of staying patient and not forcing things.
I told Teddy when we were walking down 10, I'm like, Dude, I feel like it I hit it to 20 feet on every hole and I'm just not making anything. Sure enough, got a roll in there with birdie on 11 and rolled a long one in on 12. Nice to see the ball go in there and gave me some good momentum for the rest of the day.
Q. Through two rounds at this place, what is standing out to you as most important to score well?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I mean, iron play, I think, is important. The greens have a lot of slope to them. If you're off with the irons, you can put yourself in a few spots. But if you're hitting your irons well, there's a lot of birdies out there to be made. I would say, overall, iron play would be probably what I think is most important.
Fairways is kind of -- the rough, since it's new, is a little thin, and the greens are a little softer. If you can get in there and get some looks, and obviously when the scores are this low, you've got to be holing a lot of putts as well.
Q. You've been in this position before too. When there's a 59 on the line, is it like a no-hitter in baseball? Is there any discussion about it?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I definitely wasn't going to tell him anything about his round today as we were out there. I would say it would definitely be in poor taste to remind somebody they're on 59 watch.
Q. I just didn't know if it was part of the banter or anything like that?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Yeah, I'd equate it to a no-hitter. Not going to go in the dugout, like hey, man.
