U.S. AMATEUR FOUR-BALL

May 20, 2026

Jonathan Bale

Tomi Bowen

Scottsdale, AZ, USA

Desert Mountain Club

Quick Quotes

Q. ..as much this last match as you had all week.

JONATHAN BALE: Yeah.

Q. I mean, I know it's a long week.

JONATHAN BALE: Yeah, I mean, it was a lot tougher this afternoon. I think the greens were crispier, a bit more wind, so it's hard to hit it close to some of those pins.

I think we made some early on and then, you know, the eagle and then the birdie to get it back. So I would say I think we made our fair share. I think we got outplayed today. Those guys played great.

The birdies on I think it was 10 -- yeah, birdies on 10, eagle on 11. Yeah, that was -- yeah, it was good.

Q. Yeah. They're coming off 22-hole match. You guys had a little bit more time to relax. Did you feel pretty good as you stepped out on the first tee?

TOMI BOWEN: Yeah, of course. I mean, we had best part of probably two -- hour and a half, two hours between our semifinal and the final. Yeah, we felt fresh. Didn't do too much during the break, yeah.

Q. How do you assess this entire week? I mean, this was I believe your first four-ball for both of you guys.

JONATHAN BALE: No, I played last year.

Q. Oh, did you play last year?

JONATHAN BALE: Yeah, it's a success. Obviously this is disappointing not to have won, but I think someone said yesterday 2500 entries and we're the last two teams standing.

We played great golf up until this afternoon; we played good golf this afternoon. I just think we got to beat by two good players.

So, yeah, I would consider it a success. Get to a final of the USGA event I think it's pretty successful.

Q. Yeah. Now he's turning pro. (Regarding exemptions.) Three-year exemption.

JONATHAN BALE: Yeah, no, we'll see next year. That's a long way away. I would obviously love to play and maybe will play with another Welsh teammate.

But, yeah, I would love to go back to Erin Hills.

Q. Yeah. You obviously have some big events in the summer trying to get on a big team.

TOMI BOWEN: Yeah, for sure.

Q. You played two strait World Amateurs.

TOMI BOWEN: Yeah.

Q. You played last year. State your case to the selectors.

TOMI BOWEN: I mean, the results state their own case. I've just got to go out the next six weeks, two months, and just perform and that will do any talking.

Q. Go back to Europe and play?

TOMI BOWEN: Yes, going home tomorrow and I've got St Andrews Links, British Am the week after and then European Am the week after that. So three of the big ones over in Europe. See how them go.

Q. What's on your schedule?

JONATHAN BALE: I'm doing the same plan but this side of the pond. Northeast Am European Team Championships, the Southern Am, the Western Am, and hopefully US Am, and then I'll do U.S. Mid-Am.

Q. Did either one of you try for the U.S. Open this year?

TOMI BOWEN: I tried earlier and didn't get through so that one is out.

Q. Well-played you guys. Thank you, guys.
