Flash Quotes

THE MODERATOR: Scottie Scheffler is with us now at the 108th PGA Championship.

Q. Scottie, just briefly, to start what wasn't working for you today?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I think the golf course is just challenging. There's extremely high winds. There's a lot of pitch on the greens, so there's not a ton of opportunities for birdie.

I felt like I did a good job today kind of hanging in there. Yeah, hit some good shots, hit a lot of good putts that are kind of right around the edge. It's kind of like a little bit of a dice roll at times when you have so much slope and so much wind.

So my thoughts on today is, if I continue to do what I'm doing and hole a few more putts, then I think I'll be in a good spot when tomorrow ends.

Q. Can you ever recall seeing a leaderboard this bunched up with this many -- it's like 21 guys, I think, within now three shots of the lead, now that Smalley went to 5. But what does that do to you mentally tomorrow? Does anything change in how you approach it knowing that many guys are around the lead and things are going to be kind of volatile?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: First, I've never seen anything like this. When we were out there, I think it's just the nature of a lot of different things, but yeah, I've never seen a leaderboard like this, this bunched up.

Going into tomorrow, it's quite literally anybody's tournament. There's a lot of guys that have a chance. Going into tomorrow, just somebody is going to have a great round, and I'm going to make sure to do my best to give myself my best shot at being the one who has a great round.

Q. Any frustration in the way today went, and if so, does it linger, or do you get rid of it quickly and get ready for tomorrow?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: It doesn't linger. I'll go out and practice a little bit and get my mind ready to go tomorrow. I won't think much about this round past today.

Like I said, I hit a lot of good shots, felt like I hit some good putts. It's a challenging golf course, and like I said, there's a lot of slope on the greens. The winds were quite heavy when we were out there this afternoon, and it's just tough.
