Quick Quotes
Q. All right, here with Lydia Ko after her second round of the Kroger Queen City Championship presented by P&G. Kind of a tale of two different front for you in the last two days. What's been the difference over the last two days?
LYDIA KO: I think my front nine today, which was the course's back nine, I really didn't hole a lot of putts. I had a few birdie opportunities that kind of slid by, and, you know, I missed couple greens and wasn't able to make an up and down from there.
I think holing that putt on 18 was kind of nice to feel like, okay, I can make a birdie. You know, with a few -- some of the shorter holes on the actual front nine I felt like I could capitalize on that.
Yeah, the only difference was that I just holed a couple more putts coming in. Sometimes those par saves and those momentum is probably the biggest thing that kind of gets you going. I feel like I was just able to do that a lot better after 18.
Q. Seeing a lot lower scores today. Is that a contribute to maybe some of the conditions we've had, or you're getting a little more familiar with the course?
LYDIA KO: I think it's the weather. I was very asleep at 7:00 in the morning yesterday, so I can't tell you how cold it was. Everybody said it was colder than last week and I feel like early in the morning last week was pretty cold.
So I think just with how windy it was on Wednesday, I'm assuming that it just carried on into Thursday morning. It actually was dying down as we were finishing up our round, and I think that kind of just stayed that way for us today and for the most part it was very calm.
So I'm not surprised that there are lower scores today. But in a very -- when it's 40-something degrees and windy, it's going to be hard to score no matter what type of golf course it is.
Q. Can you take us through the birdie at 18, what you hit into the hole and how far the putt was?
LYDIA KO: Yeah, I hit a 7-iron to just maybe 20 feet, straight up the hill. I felt like it was a good spotted to putt from just being on the top tier, I think it's important that with some of the contouring of the greens you do have to leave it in the right spot or it can get away from you pretty quick.
Yeah, I just made a good putt and just crept over the edge, so it was nice to see one kind of go in.
Q. What will be the challenge keeping this going for another two days?
LYDIA KO: I think just being really patient. I started 2-over through eight and could have easily gone the other way. I could have shot 3-, 4-over.
But even yesterday I was like, hey, don't give up. There will be opportunities. I feel like some of the holes because there aren't a lot of par-5s it is difficult.
Maybe there is not as many birdie opportunities. But I think the best thing I did was just be patient and kind of play with whatever I have. I did that really well, and I think that's kind of got to be the mindset the next couple days.
