Quick Quotes
Q. Here with Lottie Woad after her second round at the Kroger Queen City Championship presented by P&G. A lot more birdies on the scorecard for you today than yesterday. What was the difference?
LOTTIE WOAD: I mean, it was less wind so it was a lot more scorable. Definitely hit it better off the tee. I think I only hit like three fairways yesterday, but there is a few that you can't actually hold so it's not as bad as it sounds.
Today I hit more fairways and just hit really good approaches.
Q. Regardless of the conditions, is that maybe the key to success on this course is hitting fairways?
LOTTIE WOAD: I think so. The rough is thick in spots and it's firmed up a little bit, so you can't really attack pins if you're in the rough. Like yesterday I was having to play to the middle of the green a lot because I couldn't go at the pin, but today I could go more at the pin.
Q. A couple players have mentioned about some of these fairways, that you just can't hold them, even if you had a good drive.
LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah.
Q. Did you make any adjustments you did hit today in order to hit more fairways?
LOTTIE WOAD: I just hit it better off the tee. Like I hit a few poor ones yesterday. Yeah, there are two holes you definitely can't hold, and I hit a perfect drive and went to the rough. It's only wedges on a few of them, so that's okay.
Q. What were those two holes?
LOTTIE WOAD: Well, 13 you can't hold. That's not a wedge. That's a lot longer in. The other one is hole four you can't really hole either, the dogleg left.
Q. One bogey today. What's the key to minimizing mistakes on this golf course?
LOTTIE WOAD: I think just hitting a lot of greens. I think I hit maybe 15 greens today, so my bogey was a three-putt which was annoying.
I think just fairways and greens and capitalizing on the wedges that we had today.
Q. I know you told me before, but remind everyone else, your caddie, DT, has a bag of gummies for you. Explain the thought behind that.
LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, we've done it on a few. It depends if he's had them or not. It's like if you make a birdie you get a gummi. I got a few of those today, so it was nice.
Q. How did that start?
LOTTIE WOAD: I actually can't remember. He must have just had them one day and was like, if you make a birdie you get one. And he gets one if I make birdie too, so it's good for him, too.
Q. There you go. Love that. Last one: Obviously halfway through the season; coming up on Solheim; looking to represent Europe for the first time as a pro. How much would that mean to you?
LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, a lot. Definitely on the calendar hoping to get on that team, and for it to be at home as well will be even more special, to have the European crowd behind us.
Q. Got any advice from the players that made it before?
LOTTIE WOAD: Not really. You can't really control it. If you play well you're going to be on the team. That's kind of all I've heard.
