Quick Quotes
Q. Madison Reemsnyder. All right, Madison, you are coming off your LPGA Tour debut, so start with the first hole. We saw the nerves on the first hole. Just talk about your overall experience today.
MADISON REEMSNYDER: I had a great experience today. My first hole I was nervous, but I had my best friend Darrelyn on the bag, so she really calmed me down.
I picked a spot in the fairway, hit it right where I wanted to, and after that, my nerves kind of calmed down. So ever since that first tee shot it was up from there.
Q. You had a couple of ups and downs and ups and downs and downs during the course of the round, but you're very familiar with this course, right? So did that help you kind of mentally as you were going through the round? Like, okay, I know what to do on the next hole; I know how to play the next hole.
MADISON REEMSNYDER: Yeah, for sure. As I was playing the front nine I was like, wow, I'm really fortunate that I know this course because it is tricky. Just being able to be familiar with it, it helped me get through all the ups and downs that happened today.
Q. Just with fans and playing with Emma and playing with the LPGA Tour, how different was it compared to playing here week in, week out?
MADISON REEMSNYDER: Yeah, it's different for sure. Even different from playing in the collegiate events. This is the next level, and just the intensity and focusness of both Emma and just all the LPGA players here.
So just that next level, and it was awesome.
Q. Last one from me and I'll turn it over. Playing with Emma today, she was your teammate when you were a freshman and she was a senior. Did that provide a sense of comfort? Did you guys talk during the round today, kind of catch up a little bit? What was that like playing with Emma today?
MADISON REEMSNYDER: Yeah, it really was a sense of comfort. Emma is very focused while she's playing golf so she doesn't really stray away and talk about random things.
But even just playing with her and with her dad caddieing, I was also pretty close with her family, so it was so nice to catch up with them and play with her and see how she's doing and see how her game is right now.
So it was awesome, and I get to do it again tomorrow so it's great.
Q. Just this has been an emotional week with you wrapping up your collegiate career yesterday; three straight days down in Louisville. When did it sink if for you that your LPGA debut was today? The nerves had to be crazy on the first tee, but was it hard to settle in with how busy this week has been?
MADISON REEMSNYDER: Yeah, for the past couple weeks I've been pretty nervous about this LPGA event. I really tried to focus on what's in front of me, so that was regionals this week, and I was able to focus on regionals for those four days, practice round included.
And then it sunk in once we got in the van and started driving back. Then we got here around 5:30 last night and registered and that's when it really sunk in.
I was able to sleep. I woke up once during the night nervous, but like I said, ever since that first tee shot the nerves were gone. I was just out there playing and it happened how I wanted it.
Q. Can you sum up for me what the last few days have been like for you?
MADISON REEMSNYDER: The last few days have been a rollercoaster. The golf has been up and down, and also the emotions. Like I just finished my last round as a Xavier golfer so that was very emotional.
Xavier has a really -- has a place in my heart for sure, and not -- like playing my last round with my teammates was very emotional. Lots of hugs and tears as I talked off the last green yesterday.
But also we're having so much fun. Like this was such a successful year for us, and we enjoyed it and we lived it to the max. Now playing in this event I'm just continuing that, so it's been great.
Q. Very special day for you today. How much more special was it because of all the familiar faces? Felt like a home match for you guys during some points.
MADISON REEMSNYDER: Yes, it was so special. We had teed off pretty early, around 9:15, so when I teed off it was my parents, grandparents, close family and friends, and then as the day picked up I started seeing more Xavier gear and more people cheering for me.
It was so awesome. I can't wait to play again tomorrow and see the community again.
Q. I know a lot of people look forward to graduation day on Saturday. What are you hoping to do on Saturday?
MADISON REEMSNYDER: I'm hoping to be here. I have been hoping to be here on Saturday every since I got the sponsor's exemption.
I mean, either way I'll be here. I'm going to come out and support. But, yeah, I hope I'm golfing.
Q. Last one: Going into tomorrow, what is the -- what's the game plan this afternoon? What's the game plan going into tomorrow?
MADISON REEMSNYDER: Yeah, this afternoon I'm just going to rest. I don't want to beat a bunch of balls and practice and make myself more tired.
I have played a lot of golf this week, and I think my game is best when I'm rested. So I'm going to go back to my apartment, rest, hang out with my family and friends, and then just approach tomorrow with kind of the same mindset.
I mean, this was a breakthrough for me today, so now that I played in my first round in an LPGA event, I can go into tomorrow and see what I can do then.
