KROGER QUEEN CITY CHAMPIONSHIP PRESENTED BY P&G

Charley Hull

Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Maketewah Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, joined by Charley Hull after her first round at the Kroger Queen City Championship presented by P&G. Charley, in your press conference you kind of mentioned the uniqueness of this golf course and the challenges it may present during tournament play.

Can you talk about maybe just what -- how did it compare to what you thought about before the tournament?

CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, I feel like because it was so cold this morning, so windy, so it was playing a little bit more trickier. I still think it's a very scorable golf course.

Q. Talk about your finish: birdie, eagle. Not a ton of low scores out there. That 3-under stretch bumped you up the leaderboard. What was going on there?

CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, so I -- yeah, I hit some good shots. I'm still not quite hitting it -- I'm not really hitting it very well at the minute, so I completed whiffed my 5-iron on the last hole in the bunker short.

And then the bunker, I don't think the greens staff like raked the bunker very properly. There was a couple of bunkers like that out there. So, yeah, it was just a bit of a fluffy lie in like a footprinty thing.

I kind of finished with a bogey, but I was pretty happy how I played considering how I'm hitting it.

Q. And then a lot of the weeks out here birdies obviously are going to help you win. Feels like this week avoiding bogeys is going to be a big thing. Can you talk about that contrast?

CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, no, I do think it's quite a scorable golf course. I think it's just because it was quite windy this morning. There's a few little quirky holes out there that make it tricky.

But I do think it is still quite a scorable golf course.

Q. And do you feel like some scores will get lower as people...

CHARLEY HULL: I think probably this afternoon the scores will start getting a bit lower, probably as people play the golf course and throughout the week.

Q. You mentioned your swing being off today. What was it you felt like wasn't there?

CHARLEY HULL: I don't know. Just feel like -- I don't know, it just doesn't feel quite right at this minute, yeah.

Q. You mentioned earlier this week sometimes when it gets cold you can kind of feel it more in your body.

CHARLEY HULL: Yeah.

Q. How are you feeling physically today?

CHARLEY HULL: I was actually pretty warm this morning, so wasn't too bad. I just had like three layers in and two pairs of trousers on and my rain pants on, so it wasn't too bad.

The weather is nice now, so, yeah, hopefully it gets a bit warmer during the week. In the afternoons it's completely fine. It's first that first little bit in the morning.
