Quick Quotes
Q. What are the emotions right now?
ALEX FITZPATRICK: That's great question. I don't really know. I'm disappointed not to have won, but I'm also really proud of myself for how I battled out there. I was 3-over through 3 and then in my head I'm thinking I could shoot 81 here. So, yeah, I felt like I was super happy that I was very patient. Felt like the birdie I made were good ones. Just happy with the way I battled all day.
Q. Do you feel any different about yourself than you did three weeks ago pre-Zurich?
ALEX FITZPATRICK: I would say there's probably more inner self belief. I think the win in India was a big stepping stone for me. I felt like that was a big monkey off may back. That was kind of the one thing that I really wanted to achieve and getting that done was really helpful for me. I feel like I just took that momentum and myself belief and, yeah, carried on with some good golf and it's been good for me.
Q. After the start, didn't get off to a great start the back nine did you give yourself a talk, was there a reset?
ALEX FITZPATRICK: Not really, no. I left it short at 9. I hit a great 9-wood into 9 and left it short. So I was pretty angry with myself. Me and my caddie kind of we say the same thing all the time is just, you just got to be patient. Sometimes as annoying as it is to hear or say, that's just how it is, and that's what you need to do. I felt, I did feel like the up-and-down on 10 kind of really pushed me and got me going. Still don't know how I made an up-and-down. But it was, yeah, I think that really kind of pushed me for the back nine.
Q. A lot of people here won't know Kristoffer, how much have you played with him, what do you know about him?
ALEX FITZPATRICK: He's a great kid. I've known him probably since I was 14, maybe earlier than that. We played against each other a bunch in junior golf. We played against each other in the Spanish Am, and I'm not saying the result (laughing). Yeah, no, he's a great player. He's obviously coming into some form over the past couple years. But it's great to see. He's a really, really nice lad and I have nothing but good things to say about him.
Q. Did anything surprise you about today?
ALEX FITZPATRICK: No. I felt the same as what I did Saturday. I would say the most nervous I probably was was Thursday. I felt pretty good. I felt like I was hitting it well, just I felt like things kind of didn't go my way. I was in a divot on 2, something in my back swing on 3, and then having to chip out and 3-putting was frustrating. Then missing a couple short ones just kind of killed my momentum to try and get back to what I started with on the front nine. But, yeah, nothing really changed, I was super excited to go out there. I feel like my expectations are low just because of how amazing the past four weeks have been for me. So I'm just trying to enjoy it and I think that's kind of why my emotions are all over the place at the moment.
Q. Why was Thursday the most nervous you were?
ALEX FITZPATRICK: I think, well playing with Viktor and Rickie is always crazy for me, because back in Europe we weren't playing with them sort of players. Yeah, just playing with new people. Obviously great players themselves. Yeah, just new crowd, obviously loads and loads of people here at this event, which was amazing to see. Yeah, just kind of trying to adjust I think that's why I was a bit nervous.
