Quick Quotes
Q. All right, here with Hannah Green after her third round at the Mizuho Americas Open. Really solid 4-under from you today. Talk about some of the key differences from the front and back nine. Seems the front is a little more scorable.
HANNAH GREEN: Yeah, definitely. I feel like because we played earlier in the morning there wasn't any wind. It was kind of nice because I felt like it had been pretty gusty the last couple days.
Yeah, there was definitely opportunities to actually hit it close and leave the ball where you actually planned to leave it. Yeah, the putter really hot. Golf hole seemed very big. Felt confident with my hand.
Yeah, just felt like I needed to take as many opportunities as they come. I briefly looked and seen there has been some lower scores today, and I do think the pins have been a little bit easier for us. Even though the rain can sometimes be annoying it's also helping soften the greens.
Overall I'm really happy with today's round, and hopefully I can get myself a little bit closer to the leader.
Q. Everyone we've talked to today has said par-5 -- like taking advantage of par-5s has been the key to success out here. What is it about these par-5s that are so scorable and kind of the keys to success this week?
HANNAH GREEN: Yeah, definitely. I feel like most players in the field will probably be able to get to some of the par-5s in two. It's still tough to make a birdie, but they're the holes you kind of expect to because they have been a little bit generous with the pin locations on those holes.
There is definitely opportunities to make an eagle depending obviously on how you play the hole. Yeah, trying to play boring golf. hit fairways and greens is what I did on the front nine. I've struggled a little bit on the back nine, so it's something I can change for tomorrow, because that's going to be important trying to win a championship.
Q. Obviously have won twice this year. When you're coming into a Sunday round, what is the mindset?
HANNAH GREEN: Yeah, it's kind of difficult because you want to be aggressive here but sometimes you can't. I feel like all of us today had some chances where we hit it close to 10, 15 feet, but then where we kind of left ourself on the green you cannot be aggressive. You're hoping to somewhat two-putt.
If you can actually leave yourself an uphill putt you can be aggressive, but if you have a downhill you can't. It just depends on how comfortable, how aggressive you want to be.
Depending where they put the pins, obviously there will be holes where you want to make birdies, but sometimes four or par will be a really good score.
So I just got to make sure that I'm not getting too ahead of myself and not looking at the leaderboard too much. I usually do like to look, but I also feel like this golf course you can't really worry about what people are doing because the last few holes are actually really difficult.
So just trying to post a number and hopefully that can be good enough.
Q. Last one: Today got to play alongside the juniors. How cool has it been in this week to get to see them around, mentor them, and just make a little lasting impression on them?
HANNAH GREEN: Yeah, definitely. I got asked if I want to be a mentor for the week, so my junior was is named Amber and she's so sweet. She played the Drive, Chip, and Putt so I feel like I'm double her age now.
I also got to play with Iris today. She's 13 years old and she outdrove Lydia and I on one of the holes. It's super impressive to seat talent that's coming through. They're all super sweet. Hopefully one day they'll be on the LPGA. Maybe not when I'm still on Tour but maybe in ten years' time.
