MIZUHO AMERICAS OPEN

May 7, 2026

Andrea Lee

West Caldwell, New Jersey, USA

Mountain Ridge Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Joining us after the first round of the Mizuho Americas Open is Andrea Lee. Andrea, 6-under today when a lot of people were not going low. What was going well for you specifically?

ANDREA LEE: I really didn't see 6-under today to be honest, so I'm quite pleased that.

The game plan going into today was just staying really patient, trying to hit as many greens and fairways as possible, and just know that pars is good score and trying to minimize bogeys.

I did pretty well with that today, and hopefully can keep it going the rest of the week.

Q. This is your low round so far in 2026. Do you feel like your game is in a spot where it's getting better, do you feel like this course just suits you, or what do you think specifically went into this?

ANDREA LEE: Yeah, I think this is a great golf course for us, great test of golf. Honestly feels like a major championship just with how firm and fast the greens are and how tough the conditions are.

So, yeah, the game plan is just to stay really patient. I feel like I've been playing really consistent golf lately. Had a couple not-great weeks in LA and Chevron, so really grinded last week and worked on the things that I needed to work on, and I feel like it's all coming together a little bit now.

Q. A lot of people have mentioned the greens specifically being tricky here. Do you think putting is something you were excelling at today? You had a lot of one- or two-putts.

ANDREA LEE: Definitely. I rolled the rock really well today. I had I think four birdie in my last five holes.

But it honestly just came. I wasn't really expecting anything. Just picked really good start lines and hit the ball where I wanted to and visualized all the putts going in and they did, so that was pretty nice.

Q. You mentioned sticking to your process. How do you plan to carry this momentum through the next three rounds?

ANDREA LEE: I think I just have to reset every day. The conditions might be easier, they might be tougher tomorrow; who knows, might get some rain this weekend.

Just trying to take it day by day and get a lot of rest in between and stick to my game plan like we did today.
