Q. Not only did you both win a gold medal, but you get an exemption in the 2026 U.S. Women's Amateur. How does that feel?

KATIE SCHECK: Awesome. Amazing

MORGAN ELLISON: It's in her hometown, and that's where my grandma and my aunt live. So that will be super special.

KATIE SCHECK: Special to play at home. So special. It's right up the road where I live. So that's really special.

Q. When you made that putt today, what were the emotions going through your minds at that point?

MORGAN ELLISON: I had missed one on 16, 17, and 18. So it felt good to see one drop. Obviously I knew there was still a chance she could make hers, and Grace has been a good player all day. So I figured we were going to another one. That was my mindset.

It was just so surreal. It was so good to see one go in.

KATIE SCHECK: They were great players. We had to work for that one. It was definitely we had to make birdies to win the holes out there. I had every confidence in her to make that putt. She's been making putts like that all week. So it was good.

Q. How did you both decide to team up for this event?

MORGAN ELLISON: We've known each other since our young junior golf days and been friends. Two years ago when this event was in San Antonio, I got to caddie for Katie's sister Kelly because I go to school out there.

So she asked me to play last summer. I was like, well, we want our chance to do it and not just sit on the sidelines and watch, so yeah.

KATIE SCHECK: That was it. I just asked her, I said, hey, do you want to be my partner? She was like heck, yeah, no one's ever asked me. The rest is history.

Then we just picked the qualifying site. We won our qualifying site, went to four playoff holes for our spot.

MORGAN ELLISON: It's been a grind.

KATIE SCHECK: We're no mystery to the grind out there. We've had to work for every win out there today.
