THE MODERATOR: Good playing today, 61. Just a quick comment from each of you about how you felt today's round went.
A.J. EWART: Yeah, obviously went really well, as the score card would say. You know, we both played really well. You know, kind of ham-and-egged it, as some would say. Kind of working in shifts and not birdieing the same holes, but making sure we're setting our partners up to kind of free will it and go at it.
We just did a good job of kind of working together and setting each other up.
CASEY JARVIS: Yeah, 100%. I think whenever I was in trouble, A.J. had my back. That was pretty helpful. Then A.J. made some beautiful birdies on three and four, which really kind of helped to kick-start the round.
I think, yeah, we duffed up really good.
THE MODERATOR: Did you guys know each other before this week?
A.J. EWART: No, we did not. We met each other on, what was that, Tuesday. Played 18 holes on Wednesday, and here we are.
THE MODERATOR: So what's the process for that, A.J.? Obviously you're the member. Casey, you've been killing it on the DP World Tour. Do you just enter as a single and they pair you with --
A.J. EWART: Yeah, that's kind of how it came about. I was looking for a partner pretty late. You know, I didn't plan far enough ahead. I was kind of left stranded without a partner, and the tour informed me about Casey playing and if I would want to play with him. I didn't hesitate.
THE MODERATOR: Casey, are you on a sponsor exemption this week?
CASEY JARVIS: Yeah, I'm on a sponsor's exemption. Obviously I met A.J. on Tuesday and felt like it was love at first sight (laughing).
Q. What have you guys bonded over? You're from countries on almost the opposite sides of the globe, but what's it been like, the camaraderie?
CASEY JARVIS: I think it's -- I mean, he seems pretty similar to me. I think we like the same things. We talk about pretty much the same things.
I think the cultures I thought wouldn't quite match, but it's matched up pretty good.
Q. Casey, have you stayed over here since the Masters? What has it been like I guess being over here in the States after such a good start to the European season?
CASEY JARVIS: Yeah, I think the courses are a lot different to Europe, so I'm getting used to the grass. It has been pretty important.
I actually spent a week in Dallas last week. The practice facilities out there are amazing. Yeah, I'm really enjoying the States.
Q. A.J., you've had a pretty good year comparatively to some other Q-School Korn Ferry Tour grads? What do you credit to you being top 80 in FedEx Cup points?
A.J. EWART: I would say it comes from confidence and just getting more comfortable out here and having a better understanding about yourself and your game and understanding that it can translate on the biggest stage. Just learning more about yourself and competing more week in and week out out here is just a big thing.
THE MODERATOR: When you say confidence, before you won Q-School, you had only played a full year out on PGA TOUR Americas. Never on KFT. A couple of Canadian Opens. When did you get that confidence?
A.J. EWART: You know, I think it does stem from my time on the Americas Tour. I mean, if you look at the guys that have graduated through there and are out here now, like Johnny Keefer and so forth. You know, I've played well out there and had some good results out there, and I just know if you can play good golf out there, you can play good golf out here, and I think we're seeing that.
THE MODERATOR: A.J., what was the message this morning? You guys make the cut, but everyone is within six shots of each other. Is that kind of different than what you normally would experience out here?
A.J. EWART: Yeah, yeah, I mean, a little bit, right? It's just so jammed up. We kind of just went all out and just said, well, you got nothing to lose, right, so you night might as well give it a go and got off to a good start and kind of kept the ball rolling. We're going to do the same tomorrow.
THE MODERATOR: Casey, you're in position to get your PGA TOUR card for 2027. Is that the ultimate goal to be promoted from DP World Tour and come out here and play full-time?
CASEY JARVIS: Yeah, 100%. I think these couple of weeks I got now is going to be really helpful for next year. Hopefully have a strong finish to the season and get my PGA TOUR card, but I mean, that's a dream of mine since I was young. I mean, that is definitely the ultimate goal.
