THE CHEVRON CHAMPIONSHIP

April 25, 2026

Ruoning Yin

Houston, Texas, USA

Memorial Park Golf Course

Quick Quotes

Q. Joining us after the third round of the The Chevron Championship is Ronni Yin. Ronni, 6-under today; bogey-free. Can you just talk about what's going well for you on the golf course.

RUONING YIN: Well, I think today I just don't really make mistakes and I've been hitting well and putting well.

So, yeah, everything is going to the right direction.

Q. Obviously made some adjustments from Thursday to Saturday. What are the changes that you made that helped you shoot low today?

RUONING YIN: I would say mostly putting because I've been working on my putting a lot since last year after CME. I changed to broomstick and I changed back Shadow, and I just tried to figure it out what's the best way for me to putt.

I think it's working really well right now.

Q. When you switched from -- that's a pretty drastic distance between putters to go from a broomstick back to conventional. Did you just need to see something different?

RUONING YIN: Yeah, for me I think just a different style to putt, right? I just wanted to see if this can work and if not, I can always change back.

So I give it a little bit of time to let to happen, but it just not my style so I change back. That was easy. Yeah, just working on my aiming mostly.

Q. How have you broken this golf course down? Maybe how did you break this golf course down today into bite sized pieces to be able to capitalize the way did you?

RUONING YIN: Yeah, this course is long, like really long for me because I'm not a long hitter. A lot of shots, like all the par-3s I got to use like 6-iron, 5-iron, even 4-iron to hit a shot.

And I mean, you just need to play smart and just don't try to go for the pin every hole and just maybe middle of the green and two putt and move on.

You can make birdie when you have chance.

Q. This course seems to really reward the long hitters. What are you most proud of about how you've been able to get around the course and the position you put yourself in?

RUONING YIN: I'm really proud of how I putt right now because I've been struggling with putting for a long time. Right now I think all the hard work pays off. That's what I love to see.

This course, well, I think I've been hitting my iron shots really, really good so that gave me a lot of chances to make birdie.

And obviously also we have couple tees moved up as well. That helps me a lot, so, yeah.

Q. How would you describe the conditions today, the heat and humidity and playing through that?

RUONING YIN: Today is very hot, especially I'm wearing the sweater. But I mean, the heat also helped the distance I think. I've been hitting a little longer compared to the first day, because first day is slow; the course still wet.

Today is getting better. I think the course is drying pretty good. Yeah.

Q. What's your mindset? Nelly obviously has a big lead. What is your mindset and game plan to go into tomorrow to try to catch her?

RUONING YIN: I'm just trying to have another day like today. I mean, there is nothing we can control other than the effort and the attitude.

So I think if I can do those two things well the result I don't really care.

Q. Can you describe being in contention on Sunday at a major? I know you did it at Chevron last year; you won at Baltusrol. What are the emotions and feeling like for you?

RUONING YIN: I just love playing majors because majors are tough and it just tests your game so much.

I mean, especially in the final group or second last, it just motivates me a lot.
